Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

30F calm, overcast sky, DRY road! :)  What a difference one day made!  Put on my brand new Altra Torin, long-forgotten-packed-away Underarmor pants and headbands (washed and cleaned like new) all excited for a run without freezing or slipperies! :) :) :)  The four of us ran east to Mitch Hollow Park via Dry Creek.  My short legs churned nicely DOWN the hill...but the lungs would have nothing of it on the UP hill.  On the return trip I did slightly better, less coughing.  After dropping Wendy off (she got 10K).  We picked up the pace a bit (9:28).  After dropping Karen and Leslie off I cruised home (9:15).

Trying to decide which marathon to do on April 18:  SLC or West Mountain.

Don't you love finding treasures? It was a beautiful day for a run....especially when you have the "Smooth Posse" with you!!!!

I'm doing SL Marathon if that helps you decide (I haven't registered yet). I've never heard of the West Mountain marathon?!

Are you running the SG Half this weekend?

From Smooth on Wed, Jan 14, 2015 at 15:21:47 from 70.57.92.82

It's a new marathon with start and finish at the Lincoln Beach Park at the south end of Utah Lake. I'm leaning towards West Mountain. It's a loop course, no riding bus or Trax. Check it out here: http://westmountainmarathon.com/

No SG Half this year. I need to stay close to home for Larry (doing his PD with antibiotics).

Are you running it?

Nice determined running! You are working hard right now with everything you have going on, just to get out there. And also running well. (I think you should run both marathons, not that I would!)

Flat ~ thanks for your kind words!

The only way I could run both marathons is to split me in half cause they're both on the same day! :)
