Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Ran with Karen on the LC track, all the treadmills were taken plus a tm class was to start in 20 min.   After 3 miles, we went down to the front desk and asked if we could possibly change direction...NOPE!!!  The rule remains that direction is changed on daily basis. Runners/walkers must run the same direction for the day.  So we wrote up a suggestion for the manager to give to Dan, the boss who doesn't come in on Friday.  "Please for the sake of runners who run more than 3 miles (8 laps = 1 mile) to allow change of directions at least hourly to prevent injuries as runners make over 6 tight turns on each lap."  They would not need to put up the directional arrow signs daily, just a permanent sign to state that on the odd hour go clockwise, on the even hour go counter-clockwise."  Then we ran back to the track for another two miles; by then my right ITB was not happy.  It seemed to bug more running clockwise...if the track wasn't so crowded I would've changed direction on the outside lane.

My ITB is always bad on the inside knee (the leg on the inside of the turns). Bugged a bit at the Rev Run on NY day!

I love the even/odd hour thing!! I may put in that suggestion at my gym!

So when do you find out from Dan - Dan the gym man if you get to do the hourly odd/even track thing ? The gunk in the valley will probably clear up before he makes a decision if at all.

January is always the worst at the gym... all those New Year resolutioners. I hate going to the gym in January.

RAD ~ I notice that the ITB didn't hurt as bad today when the leg is on the outside of the turns and also a tiny bit quicker pace feels better than slow. May be I could feel the pain more when I ran slow or shuffled along! :)

Slick ~ I highly doubt Dan would do anything about the suggestion. I've heard that he doesn't like to make changes even when it is for the good of the patrons. Oh well, I don't plan on doing too much long runs on that cruddy track. I just wish the inversion would GO AWAY!!!

Rhett ~ It is even worse here in Utah with the horrible inversion. This morning the temp was -4 and so much smog that you can't even see the mountains not to mention the frozen slick icy road. So everyone heads to the gym. I thought about driving up to Park City but then it would just add more pollution with my "non-essential" driving! :)

Amy ~ thanks for dropping by! Here's to a better and healthier 2013 to you!!! luvs and hugs! :)
