Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Overcast sky w/ a misty precipitation.  The grandkids have no school so they wanted to go to the park.  I jogged w/ Luke in the stroller while Lex rode his bike and Jade jogged along.  When we got to the park, the playground equipment was still wet so we didn't stay to play!

The right knee is still tight, left hammie still sore!  What am I going to do?  I may have to revise my training schedule for Boston which is 12 weeks away!  Aaaaghhh!!!  Meanwhile I'm enjoying my time w/ the grandkids and sweet tiny baby Jett! :)

12 weeks is lots of time for you to rehab yourself. No pressure at Boston..just soak up the atmosphere! Enjoy the rest of your trip to TX. :)

Hey there SSF!!!!

It doesn't surprise me that your left hamstrings are tight. Most of the time that is the pattern that compensating injuries follow. In other words, the compensating injury will be diagonal from the original injury. For example, if you were running and wanted to keep the same pace that you are used to keeping your mind would have said, "Hey, I need to take it easy on the right knee so I will take a shorter stride with that leg. BUT in order to compensate for that shorter stride I will lengthen the stride of my left leg just a tad bit." It's a vicious cycle we unknowingly put ourselves through.

You will be fine at Boston IF you let your body get back to where it needs to be so that you can run as close to pain free as possible.

I love you so much and hate to see you hurt. The crosstraining will be GREAT for you. Really!!!!

Miss and love you. So glad you are enjoying yourself and your company! :)

Okay, here is my 2 bits about Boston: CHILL! I trained for SGM from having a baby in only 10 weeks, and that was starting with a 'long' run of 11 miles. So, knowing you - taking 2 weeks off is NOT going to put you behind. Don't run a lick, let your body HEAL! X-train anything that doesn't bother it and keep the cardio up. When you can run with no pain and walk with no tightness, start back. I know you will start back with more like a 50 mile week and a 15-17 mile long run and it won't even phase you! Seriously, Helga will come get you if you don't take care of that knee!!!!!

(but, I'll see you at Painters right? :) )

You are so well prepared for racing, I think a little time off to heal up will not hurt you in the slightest!!! You take care and enjoy your time with the grandkids and your daughter.

I'm sorry about the knee. Just take it easy and have fun with your grandkids. You are in such good shape you will do fine at Boston.
