Personal:

I'm 64, retired RN, happily married, nana to 14 beautiful grandchildren, mother to 6 children (1 daughter, 5 sons) who are kind, hardworking, caring, wonderful people! Wish they live closer!!!  :)  :)  :)

Picked up running in 2005 at age 50, to stay healthy so I can take care of my husband who had endocarditis resulting in AVR and MVR in 2004, end stage renal failure in 2014, kidney transplant on Dec 30, 2015.  Six months after the kidney transplant, we discovered that he has a rare auto-immune disease that was probably triggered in 2004 with then the undiagnosed infective endocarditis.  The doctors had to make up a name for this rare disease, Monoclono Gammopathy with Renal Significance (MGRS).  It is not curable.  After desperately trying different chemotherapies, the doctor finally found one immuno-therapy, Daratumamab, that works to treat the MGRS.  It is a miracle!!!

Grateful for the gift of life, blessings, dear friends and loved ones!!! Thankful for the ability to move, walk, jog, and yes run!!!!

Nice run Smooth I hope the shutter guys work better today...will this be the last day for them?

Today while I was lifting for my legs I did my Quads first, I normally do inner and outer thighs first and then quads, anyway my IT band in my right leg started to hurt. When I lifted for the inner and outer thigh after the pain went away after just one set. Not sure what this means but I thought I would pass it on.

From Smooth on Mon, Jul 27, 2009 at 13:41:51 from 70.56.100.152

I sure hope today's the last day for shutter guys.

Hmm, interesting observation for the ITB. In my research, I learn that the repetitive bending and straightening of the knee can cause inflammation of the bursa (fluid filled sac separating the ITB from the femoral epicondyle; and the the ITB itself; or irritation of the band due to recurrent rubbing/impingement.

There are many factors that may cause ITBS. One is weakness or poor control of knee muscles especially the quads. Another is weakness in hip abductors. That may explain why you'd feel the ITB bugging when working on the quads (that's why downhill irritates it more). I assume the inner/outer thigh exercises strengthen the hip abductors/adductors. I'm adding "clam shell" to my strength training. Thanks for the insight.

Hi Cutie! I always fall asleep in movies too, , , I try, try, try to stay awake but usually end up giving in!

Have a great week!

I agree with your review of Harry Potter. I didn't fall asleep but it was long and not nearly as good as the book. My younger kids didn't enjoy it much. Good recovery run.

From marion on Tue, Jul 28, 2009 at 11:44:25 from 71.213.106.139

I concur about Harry Potter. I am a HUGE fan, but this one was LONG and boring. The book was SO much better!!

From RivertonPaul on Tue, Jul 28, 2009 at 11:45:38 from 67.42.27.114

I'm not just being a contrarian, but I really liked this movie!

From marion on Tue, Jul 28, 2009 at 11:52:53 from 71.213.106.139

You are cool Paul, my husband and my kids loved it. There just seemed to be a lot of movie and not a lot of story, but I don't know what was missing. It was just slow paced I guess for me. Oh- and what was wrong with Harry's face. sometimes it looked like it had been airbrushed or pulled tight. He looked odd in many scenes.

From Rhett on Tue, Jul 28, 2009 at 14:21:51 from 74.36.34.147

Nice running this month Smooth. You're milage is geting up there.

I really liked this Harry Potter. It may have been my favorite so far. Even though they left out a lot of the sub plots, I thought they told they story very well.
