33F.  Success on my sub-19 goal.  I measured it at 3.08 miles and it was not on their certified course, so maybe add 10 seconds to the time, but definitely a big PR and a legit sub-19.  None of the faster folks showed up, so I ran by myself, although it was a 2-lap course so I did some people-dodging on lap 2.  Splits:

6:05, 5:59, 6:00, 25 sec for .08 (5:25 pace for the stub).

Overall Garmin had it at exactly 6:00 AP, which equates to an 18:39 5K time.  Definitely feeling good about my chances for 3:05 now.

Congrats Joe..... 1st overall too! So, are you a "local elite?"

From JulieC on Sat, Dec 10, 2011 at 13:10:51 from 71.35.251.21

I am thinking you need to changer your blog title. You DON'T qualify as slow!! ESPECIALLY after nailing that sub 19 5k!!! btw that is my goal for this next year. So happy for you!!! Wicked awesome splits too!! pretty consistent.

hey what did you get for first place?

Sweet run man!

From flatlander on Sat, Dec 10, 2011 at 16:45:50 from 76.31.26.153

Congratulations. At that speed, there aren't many "faster folks", although it would have been fun to test out your legs against somebody -- maybe the guy on the motorcycle? Those splits are fantastic. Hope Santa was providing good prizes.

JG/Burt - thanks

Rye - I guess so...for what it's worth...

Julie - the courses here are all nice and flat...it helps! No prizes this time, I don't think, which is not that unusual for Abilene.

dh - thanks

Flat - thanks - I think I could've pushed more the last mile (especially with competition), but I might be viewing how I felt more favorably in hindsight.

Awesome Joe! Wow! You totally obliterated 19:00! I am so amazed and jealous! I still think you're gonna pull a sub-3 and I won't be swayed.

April - thanks...it'll be a piece of cake, I know a great shortcut. Plus Flatlander bought me a bus ticket.
