62F, SSE 13 mph.  7:53 AP.  Easy down to the track, then a 2x6x20 sec on the grass. That really felt good. I loved flying down the football field. Pretty much just ran goalpost to goalpost; these were not sprints, just vo2 max pace (maybe did 'em a bit fast, hard to tell). So it was very much just an introduction to the pace, a low-stress run. 5 min jog between the 2 sets, and easy run back home.

This looks a lot like a Bam/John Kellogg session!

From SlowJoe on Wed, May 01, 2013 at 09:55:16 from 155.219.241.10

Guilty!

From Bam on Wed, May 01, 2013 at 10:05:40 from 89.126.28.24

100% John Kellogg - Bam pinched it and put it in as an element of a 6/9/12 month 5k plan, which blends with some Canovian points and transitions into a Bambuster pastiche of Peter Coe/Frank Horwill for older folks:)

It's a nice session, Joe. It gets harder, but still enjoyable, as you extend it.

I've been confused until now about how to read these types of workouts. My tendency is to want to write 2(6 x 20 seconds), but I'm also a guy who records his mileage with two significant digits :)`

From SlowJoe on Wed, May 01, 2013 at 10:20:58 from 155.219.241.10

Bam - had a good time but you're right, seems like even a minute would be "enjoyable" since you're jogging the whole distance back, right? i guess we'll see...

Jason - yeah, your way is probably more precise - 2 sets of 6 x 20s...no clue on the total "fast" distance, i figure 3/4 mile is close enough!

From Bam on Wed, May 01, 2013 at 10:50:15 from 89.126.28.24

Yep, you jog the whole distance back. But don't forget, you're only doing 2 sets. When you're doing 3 sets of 6x40 secs and then a 5-8 min effort to finish off, you'll be feeling it all right: you'll be doing 17-20 mins at 2 mile pace. Rest assured, your legs will be giving out to you. But remember to stay relaxed and really focus in on your running form. Nice start.

Nice Joe- I am really interested to see how this affects and effects your running.

From SlowJoe on Wed, May 01, 2013 at 18:58:17 from 96.61.24.215

Bam - yep, I'm sure there's some hurt to be had.

Dan - nice usage of a/effects. If there's one thing I've learned about running (and one thing is probably it), you gotta change things up

I am curious to see how this plays out, as well. I don't know why I'm intimidated by the grass. I think it is a "gateway" run. You start off with a little grass, then you're doing a couple of miles in the woods, eventually you become a trail runner. You think "I can go back to road running whenever I want," but you don't.

From SlowJoe on Thu, May 02, 2013 at 07:21:39 from 155.219.241.10

Tom - I just pretended I was returning kicks for a touchdown. Don't think there's much danger of me switching to the NFL, so my road runner status should be safe.
