37F, rainy.  Kind of a rough one this morning.  I should've eased myself in to a tough run like this.  Plan was 10 ez, then 10 @ MP.  I started out running it as if I had not missed a beat, then predictably bonked in the 7th MP mile.  The first 10 I ran at a 7:19 AP, which would be easy for November SlowJoe but not Current SlowJoe.

Then the MP miles were 6:40, 6:34, 6:36, 6:24, 6:40, 6:41, .5 @ 6:48, quit.

Again, a month ago I could've finished this out but not now; I pulled the plug when I couldn't hold 6:40.  I should've just run 6:50 the whole time to make sure I got in the volume.  Why would I think I could just pick up where I left off..?  Then I had a fuel bonk on the cooldown, as a last kick in the butt.

I don't know if 3 weeks is enough time to get November SlowJoe back but I'll go through the motions to see.  If I have to I'll be super conservative in the race.

I'm hoping 3 weeks is enough time too. I was surprised what I was able to accomplish in the last 3 weeks of my CMI training. It all seemed to come together then. Keep pushing Joe!

"Why would I think I could just pick up where I left off..?"

I think that all the time. ;-)

Just saw this, interesting run, and impressive. I too think it is possible to top off the tank in the last three weeks, just don't overdo it. You are aiming at sub-2:50 I assume -- with those splits it looks to be at least in range.
