Got to run outside today and the plan was for an easy 4 but I got carried away and ended up accelerating miles 1-3. Splits were:
8:38.. 10-15 mph downwind
8:22.. downwind and downhill
7:50.. uphill and into the wind
8:48.. recovery mile
Ended up with the usual 8-and-a-half-minute pace. I'll have to work on my "going easy pace" this weekend during my planned 6-miler... |

A new week, a new personal distance record. Did the first 3 in 25:25 and the last 3 in 24:22 with the last 2 miles exactly 8 minutes each (although the last 3 miles had a tailwind). 8:18 pace overall. Felt good the whole way.

| Windy today, even for west TX. EZ run and still negative split despite 34 mph wind differential on the out and back (17:13, 17:09) with 17 mph in the face coming home. I gotta find an E-W road... 8:36 average. |

| Windy again so I charted a 4.0 on MapMyRun and ran the east-west roads in the neighborhood. Ran last half mile at 7:00 pace. 32:32 overall, 8:08 pace. |

Ran Cargill Park in Longview again. It's a 3-mile track with markers every 1/4 mile but about 30 seconds after the 2.75 mark it runs into a highway and there's a convoluted sign telling you how to find the 3-mile mark so I turned around there for a 5.6 instead of the planned 6. Good enough. Did it in 45:33, or an 8:08 average after factoring in the last 2 miles in a quick (for me) 15:30. First 20-mile week for me as well.

| Snowing. In Texas. If Al Gore could see this... Anyway, I went with a light jacket, skull cap and shorts. The cotton shorts were a mistake because apparently snow is made of water and they ended up soaked (who knew?) I probably won't be able to have any more children. Anyway, I ran briskly for the entire 4 for a 31:45 (7:56 pace). Got some weird looks from brave neighbors who only came outside briefly to see the miracle of snowfall in Texas but it was fun. |

Mostly easy 5.0 with a faster half-mile charge up my favorite hill on the way home. 8:25 pace felt harder than it should have but I guess it was windy and I ran fast yesterday so the legs may be tired.
Day off tomorrow, so it looks like not quite an 80-mile month... If all goes according to plan I should top 120 next month - we'll see! |
