popped an Achilles in mile 2.  I tried to work it out the rest of the race, thinking I could still get a decent training run, but had to do the walk of shame back to the starting line.  3-4 miles limping along.  Bad bad day for Slowjoe.

Bummer man.... bummer. Hope you heal quickly.

From allie on Sun, Dec 07, 2014 at 13:10:48 from 24.30.41.119

ah, shoot. sorry to hear that, joe.

From SlowJoe on Sun, Dec 07, 2014 at 14:09:53 from 104.51.208.13

I think I'll be fine, just needs vitamin I. Limping back to the bus with everyone asking me if I was ok...that's what hurt the most! My poor, bruised ego.

From allie on Sun, Dec 07, 2014 at 14:11:50 from 24.30.41.119

i've been there. it sucks. really, really sucks.

hope it heals up fast.

From SlowJoe on Sun, Dec 07, 2014 at 14:22:54 from 104.51.208.13

Oh the thoughts that go through your head as you try to avoid eye contact with other human beings...

From Tom Slick on Sun, Dec 07, 2014 at 14:28:42 from 69.171.160.196

SlowJoe, say it ain't so..... Ya know, stuff happens, pick up the pieces, get well and get it on down the road!

From Matt Schreiber on Sun, Dec 07, 2014 at 14:43:22 from 66.17.102.175

Dang.. Sorry to hear that Joe. Rest up!

From Rye on Sun, Dec 07, 2014 at 15:13:57 from 166.137.246.16

Ok.....so it's not popped popped?!? That would require more than your vitamin I. Get feeling better

From flatlander on Sun, Dec 07, 2014 at 17:11:28 from 76.31.29.220

Really sorry, hope it heals soon.

From Tom K on Sun, Dec 07, 2014 at 17:15:31 from 174.58.54.215

Sorry, Joe. Left or right?

From seeaprilrun on Sun, Dec 07, 2014 at 17:47:26 from 205.172.12.210

So sorry to see this! Hope it's a quick fix--did you have any warning??

From SlowJoe on Sun, Dec 07, 2014 at 17:58:52 from 104.51.208.13

Right. Any trouble is always right side. It was a weird mis-step...so I know it'll be ok. But i was running all compensating-like trying to convince myself all was well and now I feel like I ran a marathon even though Garmin says 13 @ 8:05. Omg could not have screwed this up more. retiring.

From I Just Run on Sun, Dec 07, 2014 at 19:07:01 from 166.137.242.56

Oh no no no ...! I'm sorry, I was expecting something really great today.

From Jake K on Mon, Dec 08, 2014 at 08:22:19 from 199.190.170.75

Ahhh, bummer Joe.

Don't retire. Unless you were gambling on running and the commissioner is forcing you to fake retirement and play baseball for a while. In which case, you'll be back at Houston, wearing #45, and tearing it up.

From Burt on Mon, Dec 08, 2014 at 09:36:17 from 174.26.194.83

Sorry, Joe. I know what you mean about avoiding eye contact with other humans. Read my blog entry today.

From Jason D on Mon, Dec 08, 2014 at 15:12:47 from 68.80.27.222

Sorry, Joe. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
