66F, 89%.  Hit the track today for the first time in quite awhile.  This is my transition week, so I wanted a light workout just to get moving a little.  I did 5 x 800, 200m active recoveries.  Normally I do 7 or 8 of them at 10k pace, but I cut out a couple reps and slowed the pace a few seconds - 3:04, 3:03, 3:02, 2:59, 3:02.  Followed it up with 5 x 100 on the straightaways, jogging the curves in lane 8.  Good start.  I was able to finish the 800s just as the legs were starting to get that fatigued feeling from marathon remnants.  Will probably take it pretty easy the rest of the week, maybe a little progressive run somewhere, then hopefully I'll be ready for real workouts next week.

What have you got planned in terms of races, Joe? Other than surviving the summer. Maybe you said something and I missed it.

Dale - yeah, it sucks but today is a dream come true compared to what's coming in a couple months...

Jake - yeah, I need to update the sidebar to the left. June and July they have weekly track meets for $1.50 a race - plan on trying out some shorter stuff there, as I work on Bam's 5k program that I never finished last year (with a few modifications). Then it's a slow build to the San Antonio rock and roll in December, with possible HMs in October and November.

Weekly track meets are an awesome idea. That sounds pretty fun and a good opportunity to race some different distances. You can set all sorts of PRs!

I can't wait until you run the open 800 meters!!

Oh the 800 is on the list - it will happen! Mostly because I'm confident I won't get lapped in that one.

All of your races from now until September are metric! And a metric ultra in March! Exclamations abound!!

So many BATTLE races!!!

From SlowJoe on Wed, May 07, 2014 at 04:28:45 from 66.69.93.8

That's how you know I'm actually serious about running this year...metric battle races!
