46F, N 13-22 mph.  7:31 AP.  Easy, but with 6 x 8 sec hill sprints after about 2.5 warmup and a few drills that Bam prescribed.  Walking recoveries of about 2 minutes each to get a complete reset before each sprint.  Then 10-ish miles on the cooldown to get in a good run.

The drills definitely set up the sprints well, felt really good.  Actually, the entire run felt great.  Hopefully not too much longer until I've got the legs fully back.

Beginners luck:)first go and you get them bang-on; you've got more jam than hartley (that's a Britsh saying meaning lucky).

Give it a couple of weeks and watch the power come into your stride. Great stuff. The changes, they is a coming man...

Great workout Joe. Going to have to start taking notes for my next go-around. :)

Nice work. Again, it is eerie how similar our training and running are. I also have begun the strides and short sprints incorporated in to easier run days. Not sure how to feel about it while doing them, but, it seems like they really give that little boost in the legs when the turnover gets low in some long workouts/races... Love the new pic, by the way

Bam - your advice was great, especially about not bouncing at all and driving the knees...I think you would've approved

Matt - thanks!

Joe - I've noticed that -- I need some of your speed though! Kinda been neglecting it until now.

From Jason D on Sun, May 05, 2013 at 22:28:18 from 24.1.80.94

Drive with the knees! Lift from the core! If only these principles were more automatic.

I know it may not feel like it, but you are bouncing back (er, driving? back) quickly. I'm going to follow suit and take a week off after the marathon. Oh, and that's one heck of a cool down!

Nice workout Joe,

I'll be doing the same in a couple of days but I'm sure not as intense. I don't think I'll have a 10 mile cool-down either. :-(

From I Just Run on Mon, May 06, 2013 at 10:10:13 from 67.79.11.242

I may be a week or so behind you on the training. I was thinking about starting tomorrow on the Strides but Bam has me second guessing whether I should wait another week.

Jason - I'm a big fan of the week off. I realize now (after the fact) that some of my stagnation came from trying to come back too quickly from full marathons, and never really recovering fully.

IJR - well, whenever you start, we can do some training together at least! You live east of town, right?
