Just noticed an interesting article about Berard Lagat on Let's Run (the quote of the day) about why most people slow down after age 30 (and why some don't).  In some ways, I'm glad I started running after the age of 30 so I don't know know the difference.  It means I'll probably never run a 2:20 marathon, but the fun part of running is getting faster and I definitely still have a few years of doing that ahead of me, especially if Lagat can set records at age 38.

That was a good article.

I found this amusing...

"In other words, we have kids, and we get lazy."

Kids can definitely be a training limiter, but laziness is mutually exclusive, I would think! But interesting that vo2 max isn't affected as long as you keep training it. I hope Lagat is clean, because that's pretty inspitational (I didn't know he was that old).

Hey guys.....age is just a number

Rye - yeah, definitely just a number (and not one you can control) but it's fun to guess/hypothesize about all the variables that go into reaching your potential.

I'm gonna have to read this article! I am hoping to peak in my 30s. You have been making amazing improvements. Big PR in Ardmore I bet!

Great article Joe. I've always admire Lagat and his being ageless. Definitely an inspiration.
