77F, 69% humidity.  7:52 AP -- started in the 8:20s and progressed to 7:20s.  Pretty wiped out afterward, more so than I would've expected.

Found this article about training in the heat.  There was a study, albeit with cyclists, that showed heat-trained cyclists outperforming other cyclists who did the exact same workouts in cool conditions, even though the time trial was held in cool temperatures.  They don't really go into the science of it though.

Interesting..... I know that when I run in temps in the upper 70's and higher I feel hammered. Nice run today.

Good run today! I saw that article too!

I know after I run 15 miles in any type of weather I feel hammered.

From I Just Run on Wed, Jul 20, 2011 at 15:47:03 from 67.79.11.242

I know you say you were pretty wiped out after this run but overall 15 is becomming pretty standard for you...Way to go!

So are you thinking that Texans have a huge training advantage over other runners based on the article?

From Stacy on Wed, Jul 20, 2011 at 17:14:37 from 67.7.76.211

Interesting study. I have noticed there are quite a few on the blog that are running in this heat and seem to handle it pretty well. Call me a wimp, but I have no desire. I admire you if you can do it. Nice run.

I think heat is like altitude... you get acclimated. Hoping it gives you an advantage is the only thing that keeps us going out the door!

From Dan on Wed, Jul 20, 2011 at 20:22:39 from 24.209.83.20

Thanks for the link Joe- sure hope it helps me, I know what you mean about being wiped out (more so than expected). Nice 15.

Lindsey- you got that 100% correct, it keeps us going out the door!

Good! So this heat training is making us faster! Another long run..wow! You are really racking up the mileage.

From SlowJoe on Thu, Jul 21, 2011 at 20:27:18 from 74.196.65.182

Rye - seemed a little more than the temps, but not too worried

TL - if you ever find out there's actually no advantage, don't tell the rest of us

Burt - I guess 15 miles is a long way...good point

IJR - it would certainly be nice if the study is valid

Stacy - not sure I have ever handled it well, I think I complain more than anyone, but thanks!

Dan - good days and bad, I'm trying to ignore the bad ones more often

April - as many miles as I can do without falling apart, that's the plan
