59F, S 14-22 mph.  8:11 AP.  I was going to do 12, but my legs were totally dead today.  Normally I'd just suffer through it but with a race in 4 days, I turned around early.  That is exactly what I get for all the big talk about how 20 miles is no big deal.  While it was easy at the time, it definitely still leaves its mark.  I knew it felt wrong when I was typing it!  Anyway, I think a little rest will recover them enough to be ready to run on Saturday.

Oh yeah, weather.gov is predicting the winds at race time to be SSW 26-37 mph.  The course for the half is fully exposed (no trees, houses, etc) and the first 5 miles will be into the wind.  Let's just say I am shopping around for another HM.

Well, there's your shopping list. On the other hand, if you pick up a tailwind coming in, it might not be so bad, so long as you can conciously stay slow for the first 5.

That is one big shopping list, and not even December yet. Smart running Joe.

That's some heavy wind...I would be shopping around too. I hate wind. I would rather run 5 miles uphill then 5 into that kind of wind. Smart of you not to waste your legs this close to the race.

From SlowJoe on Wed, Nov 02, 2011 at 19:41:57 from 75.109.104.60

Forecast is down to 17-23 mph. I have my wind efforts down pretty well by now - I might be able to do 7:20s-7:30s into that with a little more effort. Still can't make up for it on the backside but I might end up doing a tactical race.

DH - thanks for the list. If this race ends up being worthless as a time trial I might go for white rock.
