40F, 10 mph winds.  Plan was 6 easy, 5 tempo, just looking for sub 7s on the tempo piece.

I didn't hold out too much hope for this workout -- I worked literally 30 hours straight from Sunday afternoon to Monday evening, and went about 40 with no sleep.  However, I got a solid 8 hours last night so I guess it was enough.

6 easy in 8:01 AP, then 5 tempo in 6:52 AP (6:54, 6:55, 6:51, 6:50, 6:52).  Just kept a nice stready pace; felt decent, all things considered.  7:30 AP for the run.

I checked the weather in Longview for Saturday - going to be mid 60s for the race...similar to Houston.  Oh well.  Sub-1:35 is still in play, I think, but my visions of 1:31 or 1:32 are dissipating.

Shouldn't you be tapering?

From SlowJoe on Tue, Mar 15, 2011 at 13:53:39 from 131.59.200.80

Nah, I'm gonna save the tapering for the marathon, 6-7 weeks from now. This week will be a full-up training week, just with a race instead of a long run at the end.

Nice plan.

Looks like a good tempo run. I need to learn from you...

I'm getting really excited about going to OK....

Joe, the way you are smoking it lately I wouldn't be surprised to see a sub 1:30!

I agree with April, don't sell yourself short! You have been putting in some great runs!

From SlowJoe on Wed, Mar 16, 2011 at 10:09:49 from 131.59.200.82

IJR - I'm also guilty sometimes of running too hard...for this one I finally managed to treat it like a training run instead of a race. It's hard to find that happy medium.

April - thanks, I think that one will have to wait until this fall though!

Rye - yeah we'll see what happens, but I tend to fold like a lawn chair when the temps get into the 60s.
