Ran track my junior and senior years in high school and cross country my senior year. Went to BYU but did not run. Served LDS church mission to San Bernardino, CA. Started running again in April 2005. Marathon debut was St. George in 2005.

I coach the Mount Si High School Track Team (distance)

Been married for almost 17 years. My wife, Mara, and I have four kids ages 16, 14, 13 and 11.

12 miles today followed by a bunch of stretching and several core exercises.

I did 30 crunches

30 leg lefts

15-10-5-5 adductor lifts at 30, 40, 50 and 60 lbs. respectively

Did the same for the abductors.

8-6-4 hamstring lifts at 20, and 40 lbs. respectivley.

Are you running the 12K in Tacoma this weekend? What is the race like, my wife and I are looking at the 5k preping for the R2P relay.

I am not. This will be the first time in three years I've missed it. Sound to Narrows was my first race three years ago and I have fond memories. It is a very challenging course though. It's got a severe downhill to start and two long brutal uphills at the end. Should be good weather for the race though. I'm not running it this year because I'm running another race closer to home. It's the Fall City 10k and 5k. If you are looking for a very flat and fast 5k, you should try the Fall City race on Saturday.

I am a new marathon runner. I have only run one. I am going to run the Twin City Marathon in October. Have you ever run it before? What advice would you give me. I am also trying for an "A" standard at that race. Thanks
