View Benchmark and sub peak solo:
I got to Ann's trailhead at 5:45 and was running up by 5:50 am. It was still dark outside and I opted not to use my headlamp because I knew it would get light pretty quick. The temps were perfect for the entire run. It was cool but not cold and a slight breeze most of the morning. My legs felt strong and I was ready to roll, but my tummy protested and I had issues with it for most of the run. CRAPPY!!! I was the only person on the entire trail all morning which was awesome and I saw a lot of wildlife out there. I made decent time up, but not fast. I ran everything except for the big rocky hill on the connector trail.
I hit the summit in 49 minutes and didn't stay long because I wanted to hit the sub peak as well, so I ran over there and tagged it too. Up on top I raised my arms in the air Rocky Balboa style and let out a primal yell. Runners high!
I just didn't have it on the run down and my stomach was still sour. Sucky! Oh well, I still saw an incredible sunrise and enjoyed another sweet run on Ann's. |
