Solo run on the Dimple Dell gully trail.

I took my lunch break and ran the whole gully trail from the park near the Trax station in Sandy all the way to the top and back. It was very hot, so I took my shirt off and enjoyed the sun. The first mile was a little sluggish, but after that I felt great. I filled my handheld at the bathroom/drinking fountain just past 13th east on the way up and down. I took a gel at the top and then had a quick pace until about a mile left where I bonked a bit and slowed down. I didn't eat much for breakfast and it was catching up to me. It seems like most of my runs lately have been in the afternoon during the heat of the day and I can tell I am getting used to it. The heat didn't bother me at all.

Hope you did not get sunburn! It was hot, I sat in the shade by the pool.

Wasatch is sneaking up on you... Looks like you are ready though.. Nice.

From Scott Wesemann on Wed, Aug 17, 2011 at 17:01:40 from 205.158.160.209

Kelli- I did get some sun, but no burn. I do have the worst tan lines of my entire life this summer. Durn you running!

Oreo- Yeah it is. I'm not sure I will ever be ready for Wasatch. It is gonna be a killer!

From Kelli on Wed, Aug 17, 2011 at 18:04:43 from 71.219.67.82

My favorite are the sock lines around the ankle. It is so attractive when wearing flip flops!

And, YOU ARE READY! As ready as one can be. ;o) I hope to at least see you at some point and get to cheer you on! Driving the car is gonna be rather boring. My brother is gonna have to drop me off somewhere and let me run or I will go crazy. I plan to be in running clothes the entire time, should someone need me (as long as it is not those last 25!!!)

I just noticed I have the nice ankle sock line myself. YUCK! I have been trying to use sunscreen lately to not look like I am 55 next year on my 40th bday.

I just read back on some of your posts. The over night trip sounded MISERABLE! Sorry about all of the barfing and altitude sickness. All of the misery sure makes it fun! You never want to take back a minute of it once it is all over and you have the memory to laugh about and learn from. Nice work. Looks like you are on your way to Wasatch 100!!

From Scott Wesemann on Thu, Aug 18, 2011 at 13:59:45 from 205.158.160.209

I have the worst sock lines right now and I can't get rid of them.

Kelli- Hopefully I'll see you out there. Are you crewing for your sis-in-law?

Steam- The barfing is still a bad memory. Ha. I guess I am laughing that jsh had to go through it to get down and he almost barfed when he smelled it. Haha.

I am indeed. Does everyone have the same start time? We have a lady from Colorado that I do not know (my SIL lives in Colorado) who will jump in at mile 40 and run the next 40 with her and then my brother is doing the last 20 with her....something like that. I just get to drive. BUT my brother did just buy my DREAM car, so that will be fun.

From Scott Wesemann on Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 14:27:00 from 205.158.160.209

Kelli- Everyone has the same start time (5 am). I'm very nervous. What is your sis-in-laws goal time?

From Kelli on Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 16:37:26 from 71.219.67.82

She really wants to beat 30 hours for the belt buckle, but she is not sure she can.

How about you???

From Scott Wesemann on Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 16:45:14 from 205.158.160.209

Same. I would be really happy if I can go sub 30, but you just never know until you get out there.

From Kelli on Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 16:47:21 from 71.219.67.82

Maybe I better introduce you two, then you can push each other! I really think you two could possibly be around each other quite a bit, as long as you both are feeling good! Well, who feels GOOD, as long as you are feeling semi-alive might be a better way to phrase it!

From Scott Wesemann on Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 16:55:31 from 205.158.160.209

She was out at the Buffalo run right? I think I would recognize her... maybe. Yeah, someone pushing you is always a good thing. Craig is pacing me the last 50. Hopefully I can get to him feeling ok. I know he can help get me to the finish.

From Kelli on Fri, Aug 19, 2011 at 19:02:58 from 71.219.67.82

Yeah, she was there, 3rd place in the 50. ;o) We will introduce you at the start and then you two can egg each other as you run into each other here and there.

I am sure Craig will get you to the finish in one piece.
