I would have liked to get out on some trails this week, but it just didn't happen. Oh well, I will be spending at least 20+ hours on trails in the Wind Rivers on Saturday, so it will all work out. Tonight it was too wet to go outside, plus the hail was HUGE, so I did 3 miles at the gym. My splits were 8:40, 8:10 and 6:40. Pushing the pace on the last mile was fun and I could have held it for another mile, but I want to save my legs for Saturday. I am really getting nervous for Gannett Peak on Saturday. Lack of sleep, fickle weather, long distances from civilization, bugs, rugged and remote country, along with a serious climb make me a little uneasy, but I am confident it will work out. Yesterday when the storm was pounding my house with rain and hail I just couldn't help but think that weather like that is pretty common in the Winds, and what if we are 20 miles out and get blasted in a similar fashion? Not a good thought. It should be a fun adventure though. |
