I did a solo climb of Mt. Wire this morning. I was really worried about the weather, but after looking at it last night I figured the storm would be moving in a little later in the morning, so the only thing I was worried about when I woke up was the wind. There was a slight breeze at the trailhead when I started at 6:00 am but it wasn't bad. The trail was dry all the way to the second saddle, so I made really good time. I saw a headlamp about a mile ahead of me heading up to the towers, which was weird because I rarely see anyone on the mountain that early.

There was some slushy snow to deal with from the saddle to the towers and that slowed me down a little, so I reached the top in 53:00 and didn't stay long because the wind had picked up a little, but it was still warm. The run down was really fun and I enjoyed it so much more than when there is snow.

Back to the car in 1:29 (including all breaks). 2200 vert.

You put 4 miles on your shoes? Are these the NEW ones? Did they get muddy! I stuck with a nice non-muddy trail to keep my shoes clean.

From Julie on Wed, Mar 16, 2011 at 23:41:03 from 67.199.162.82

HI Scott, this is Adam, I stole Julie's blog for a minute. How early last year were you doing Timp?

From Scott Wesemann on Thu, Mar 17, 2011 at 12:36:10 from 205.158.160.209

Thanks Rad

Kelli- What did you get? My shoes didn't get muddy, just wet.

Adam- I did North Timp in early June. There was still quite a bit of snow up there, but it can be done. A lot of it depends on how much snow we get, how warm the Spring is, and what you are willing to climb/run through. I will be doing it quite often this summer. You should join us.

Same shoe as you, just the awesome girl version!

From Burt on Thu, Mar 17, 2011 at 13:38:00 from 206.19.214.144

So who was the mysterious headlamp guy?

From Scott Wesemann on Thu, Mar 17, 2011 at 14:01:08 from 205.158.160.209

Kelli- Awesome!!

Burt- Who knows, but they were wearing a blinking red light and they were moving quite slow.

Thanks Smooth. I wouldn't go that far. :)
