I had a slight bit of soreness in my legs from the run on Sat, so I decided to just do a quick run to stretch and get them loose. It worked. Nothing special about this run.

I found out on Sat that I got into Wasatch 100, so I really need to crank up my training over the next 6 months. I am planning on getting at least one long tough training run in each month, as well as adding a good hill workout every week, so I'll probably look to get two peaks per week instead of one. I'm really excited, but also pretty nervous actually.

From RAD on Mon, Feb 07, 2011 at 14:31:15 from 67.172.229.125

WOW! Congrats Scott!!! I'm with Leslie on the pacing...I'd take a mile or two (hahaha!!).

From jun on Mon, Feb 07, 2011 at 14:33:44 from 66.239.250.209

We could start tomorrow with a Lake View double. Eh?

From leslie peterson on Mon, Feb 07, 2011 at 14:34:22 from 174.52.158.81

Hi Rach, I am butting in! I could not pace Scott, he is too fast, I only pace folks over 70! (true story! :) ) I will probably run part of the course in the opposite direction and give Scott a high five and Dunford Chocolate donut though.

From RAD on Mon, Feb 07, 2011 at 14:41:38 from 67.172.229.125

All right! Well Scott - here is my commitment, I will run the stretch with you where Leslie brings the donuts :)

From leslie peterson on Mon, Feb 07, 2011 at 14:54:05 from 174.52.158.81

I feel a party coming on! Donuts for you too Rach!! I love running the course and seeing everyone, Maurine and I did it last year and it was a blast!

From jun on Mon, Feb 07, 2011 at 15:08:12 from 66.239.250.209

Just something to think about Scott, but I'm not sure doing a 2nd peak is really the way to go. Your climbing legs are fine. You need to build distance and therefore up mileage each week. You are already way ahead of the curve for hills. What you should consider doing is adding another long(er) run each week to the one you already have planned. Most of your regular runs have considerable elevation anyway, so you are getting the same benefit, but with more mileage. By the time you peak you should be hitting 70 - 80 mile/week, min. Anyway, just something to think about.

RAD/Leslie- I will count you in for donuts and make some hot chocolate as well.

Jun- Great points. I am going to need some serious help.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats...how many pasers can you have?? (doing the happy dance!)

SO, I agree with Jun. time on feet is going to be crucial as well as practicing your fueling strats.

From Bryce on Mon, Feb 07, 2011 at 23:35:05 from 67.186.213.216

Congrats on Wasatch Scott!! It's good to have a big one like that looming, motivation! Jun will get you there, sign me up to pace or crew if you need it.

From Julie on Tue, Feb 08, 2011 at 12:44:30 from 67.199.162.82

Awesome! That is so exciting!

From Scott Wesemann on Tue, Feb 08, 2011 at 16:05:36 from 66.239.250.209

Karen- I don't think there is a limit on pacers, but you can't have them until mile 40. I will definitely need some good ones.

Bryce- Thanks man. I would really appreciate your help. We'll talk more as it gets closer.

Oreo/Julie- Thanks.

From PRE on Tue, Feb 08, 2011 at 22:19:35 from 99.50.214.225

Scott,

Congratulations on Wasatch 100!

Can't have pacers till Mile 40! That sounds nuts...Mile 40 and 60 more to go. If I lived closer, I would be willing to volunteer in some way to help you through that trek. Be it Pace or Crew. These various distances require varied strategies. And it looks like the people blogging you know something about Ultras! Wish you the very best with your training and meeting your goal.
