I ran VB via Ann's trail. This was my last run of any significance before the Wasatch 100 this Friday. I got to the trail at 8:30 am and it was already warm out. I could see 3 runners on the trail when I started, two behind me and one ahead and I was wondering if there was a arace because I rarely see runners on this section. I caught the woman that was ahead after about 1.4 miles and I was feeling really good with a lot of steam in my legs. I never pushed too hard, but still hit the summit in 45 minutes. I stopped to take in the views and stretch for a minute before heading down.
The run down was fun. I got into a good groove and just ran solid all the way back to the car. I saw another runner ahead of me with about 1.5 miles to go and passed him with a mile left. I don't think he liked it because he tried to stay with me and he had been running quite slow when I passed. I pushed it pretty well the last .5 and put some distance on him. I'm feeling as good as can be expected going into Wasatch. Of course I have some nagging sore spots, but I think all of us training for Wasatch do at this point. Nothing serious, but they can heal after the race. I'm really excited to run this race again. I have some really incredible people pacing me and I'm really looking forward to it. |
