Grandeur Peak with CraigL and MattW:

Don't you wish every morning could start like this?

I had a blast this morning climbing Grandeur Peak with Craig and Matt. We met at 5:00 am at Chruch Fork in Millcreek Canyon to drop off our cars and then Craig drove us back to the West Ridge parking lot where we started our climb. We didn't go super fast. We just put it into cruise control and talked and laughed the whole way up. Up on the summit we had one of the best sunrises of the year, so we stayed up there longer than normal. I took a gel and then we ran down the Church Fork side.

I always enjoy this run and today it was spectacular. We didn't see a soul and I just enjoyed the views winding down the canyon. Back at the Pipeline Craig kept going up to Elbow Fork, but Matt and I had to get into work, so we ran back to the canyon road together. Excellent morning.

Is that the UD AK vest you're wearing? If so, how do you like it? I've been thinking about getting a vest lately and I've wondered how that one stacks up.

Wow! What an incredible run. I definitely missed out. What time did you end up finishing? Trail running is starting to look quite more elusive than road running these days. I leap frogged with a garbage truck this morning and breathed in junk. Haha.

MRK- Yes it is. There are things that I really like about it (light, bottles, nice storage space for the size), but things that I really don't like (mostly small pockets in front). Overall I think it is a pretty decent vest, but not quite as good as some by Ultraspire. I really like the Ultraspire Spry. The Nathan O2O is one of my favs, but I prefer bottles over bladders.

Tara- We finished just around 7:20ish, but we spent a good 10 minutes on the summit and more time on the way down checking out the views. Yes, I think you should get on more trails. You can't beat the fresh air and the views. Garbage truck? Stinky!!! :)

ready for Wasatch?

From Scott Wesemann on Mon, Aug 19, 2013 at 10:14:53 from 66.232.64.4

Je10- I don't think I am ever ready for Wasatch, but I feel more prepared than I did the last two times. I need to shave at least 3 hours off of my time from last year and I think I have a pretty good plan to do that. I'm ready to get it on. Getting psyched.
