Shriner's run to the end of 11th avenue, 7:40 average. I realized today why I haven't felt as good about running lately, and its because of a drop in confidence. Because of how my Cross season ended it suffered a huge blow, and I don't think it has quite recovered. But I've realized that's because I'm stressing too much about getting a spot on the traveling team for track, when I need to be looking at how I'm progressing individually. When I had CMV I knocked 30 seconds off of my XC 5k PR from last year. When I was healthy my 3 mile split in my first race was 17:55, 47 seconds faster than last year's 3 mile PR. I PR'd for the mile in the first mile of the road race, a 4 mile race (though I don't count it as an official PR because it was slightly downhill). Even though I had a hard blow to the end of my Cross season it doesn't mean I'm not a good runner. I am the same person that ran those races and I will run even better races in the future. I just need to believe in myself and trust my training. I know that Coach Houle knows what he's doing and I know our training works, I have already improved a ton and will continue to do so. |
