I realized yesterday that I only really have 2 weeks to train for the impulsive half marathon I signed up for. The race will be more of a benchmark than anything but still I would like to run it well. So that realization and the fact that my easy run pace has been getting faster and faster lately (itching for a workout) I decided to throw down a tempo this morning. Progressive tempo run. 2 mile warmup 6:56, 6:45, 6:44, 6:43, 6:27. 1 mile cooldown and then I added on 2 miles because I was just lost in my thoughts and had extra time. My effort was WAY too hard on that last mile and I was definitely dipping into that VO2 max effort but the workout felt good.
Okay random question of the day. I noticed while I was cooling down and watching my little running shadow that I tuck my arms in really tight and high when I run. When watching the mens 5000 yesterday (I had it recorded because I missed it) I noticed that they keep there arms lower at more a 90 degree angle. Does any of this mean anything? I tried lowering my arms to the perfect 90 degree angle that Gaylon Rupp seemed to run so effortlessly at and it felt way different. Not sure if it was easier or harder but just different. Okay signing off because clearly I'm losing my mind!
