Track workout today.  Miscommunication with Jen & she ended up at Salem track and I was at Payson track.  Apparently some people are asleep when you text them after 11pm.  I really should try and get more sleep.

Anyway I felt pretty good about how the workout went.

4 mile warmup 8 x 400 (82, 84, 85, 83, 84, 83, 84, 81) + 2 x 200 (40, 39) + 1 mile @ 5k-10k pace (6:02), + 2 x 200 (44, 43).  Continuous workout with 200 meter recovery in between intervals and 400 recovery before & after the fast mile.  I felt good and like I didn't push too hard.  After a recovery day tomorrow I think I'll be ready to rumble for another hard workout Sat.

Goals for fall 2013:  sub 18:30 5K, sub 38 10K, sub 1:20 half (yikes!), Stay healthy, lift a weight, have fun, enjoy the process.  I'm excited and need help picking a fall half marathon if anyone has a good suggestion.

Way to be Rachelle, you're a rock star!! It's fun to watch your progress!

Are you looking for a travel / sea-level half?

Good workout! Did you know that Footloose was filmed at Payson HS and the Payson track makes several appearances in the movie? :-)

From SpencerSimpson on Thu, Aug 08, 2013 at 10:46:06 from 63.82.19.2

@jake Rachelle was on that track team during the movie. She won't admit it but she was.

@R Nice intervals. I like this workout. I am probably doing something similar on Tuesday next week.

Jake - I am definitely up to entertaining the idea of a sea level half. I do love vacations! I've also been thinking about Huntsville...it seems like the downhill may be gradual enough to not beat me up and give me a good shot at 1:19:xx. But it might be too soon for me and I'm thinking oct/nov timing might be better.

Spence - I like this workout because it forces you to be conservative with the 400s knowing you need to save enough juice for the hard mile. Good practice at running fast on kind of beat up legs. :)

And for the record footloose was filmed on the Payson track in 1984 and I was born in 1986. The cheerleaders this morning were dressed in 80's attire and now it totally makes sense! Nothing like hunting down and dodging 16 year old girls on the track wearing side pony tails, bright shorts, and tie dye sports bras.

I love the goals!

Nice workout Rachelle! There are a ton of fast half marathons in the fall in CA that are worth looking into.

From Jake K on Thu, Aug 08, 2013 at 11:47:11 from 67.177.11.154

The 1/2 course at Huntsville doesn't look too bad at all. Especially compared to the first half of that course!

Phoenix (3-TV) has a great trio of races the first weekend of November (5K/10K/HM).

I like the goals, though. Keep working on bringing down that 5K/10K and be very sure your feet won't regress before jumping back up to the longer races again.

What about SOJO half? A decent course with gradual downhill, but some challenges. Mid October too. I think you'd like it. Close and cheap :)

Nice workout today. I was down in Payson on my bike Saturday and actually rode the furthest West turn around/loop of the 10K. Thought of you!

Good workout and loving the goals. That was a fast mile after those shorter intervals.

If you travel for a half, late fall I will go with you... California sounds fun!! :D

Snow Canyon half :). Great workout Rachelle!
