Very unofficial 5k Time Trial this morning.  I'll try not to drag this report out too long.

Spent all of last night curled up in the fetal position sicker than a dog!  Read the first 4 Chapters of Once a Runner and tossed and turned until midnight.  Up twice in the night with stomach pain.  Kept thinking I would throw up but never did just dry heaving. yuck! (tmi? sorry).  Anyway woke up at 7:15 still feeling like crud, stomach in knotts. I aborted all original running plans.  I wasn't going to run at all.

Back to bed and woke up at 9am.  I felt significantly better and decided I would at least go out and jog.  Heck I had big plans for today I needed to freaking do something right?  No breakfast was way too afraid of how my stomach would handle it.  Ran 3 miles in 25 minutes and felt way better than expected.  Decided I would at least try 1 mile repeats.  If I didn't feel good I would just quit.  No big deal.

6:19 (as soon as this mile clicked I decided I just wanted to get this over with.  Didn't want to have to stop and jog and then start over. So 5k Time Trial it was.)  6:34 (holy cow this is hard maybe I do want to quit.  Just one more freaking mile you can do it and your done for the day.) 6:23 (focus, focus, focus.  You can die when your done). 5:44 (no kick completely depleated and no finish line or fancy balloons.)  3.07/6:24 pace 19:41  This was all ran on the first half of the Payson Onion Days 10k course.  First mile is a very slight downhill and 2nd two are pretty pancake flat.

Okay so this is very unofficial becase I accidently knocked my ipod onto the ground (was swinging my arms so dang hard) right after the 2nd mile and stopped for about 30 seconds to retrieve it.  Should have just left it and went back.  And I accidently stopped my watch at 3.07 instead of 3.1.  But despite those 2 things I am still really really happy and this definitely proves that I am in good shape.

Jogged 5 miles afterwards trying to wrap my head around how I am feeling about my fitness, what my Boston goal should be, ect.  I felt like I was hardly holding a 10 minute pace but was actually running 8:30 for the cooldown.  Amazing how slow you feel like you are running after going fast.

um su-weet! you're so ready. Wished I could have joined you this morning. I really do. What's your week schedule looking like as far as taper?

Rachelle~

MAN ALIVE!! That is AWESOME!!! And you did that not feeling well!!!! Seriously, that is GREAT!!! I would NOT be able to do that (not even close) on a day that I felt absolutely perfect.

You are MORE than ready. AND ... in all honesty, I would not be surprised if you run a sub 3:20 in Boston.

Seriously, I am in awe!!! :)

From Jake K on Sat, Apr 07, 2012 at 13:51:46 from 67.177.21.60

Rachelle! You realize you are sick and ran a 30 second 5K PR solo, right?!?!? And you are training for the marathon, not the 5K, and they are completely different animals.

You are sooooooooo ready. Don't let the doubts creep in now. I even had a slight panic attack this morning worrying about my fitness. Your mind is going to try and play tricks on you constantly this next week - but look at all these workouts you have done - the stopwatch and tape measure never lie. I'm so excited to see what you do in Boston!!!

GREAT run this morning.

That stomach bug sounds awful. I hope it is done now - make sure you eat enough to keep your fuels up (sometimes eating is hard when you feel sick). Despite that, you ran great this morning!! A sub-20 solo (even despite a few mishaps) - you are in way better shape than you think. Keep up that positive attitude, no doubts now. And start feeling better!!

From Andy on Sat, Apr 07, 2012 at 15:59:21 from 174.52.172.236

Great job. Sub 20 5k while being sick and having no competition is pretty impressive.

Thanks so so much everyone! Your support and encouragement really means so much to me.

And yes Andrea I have been making sure to eat and fortunetely I am feeling 100% better today. so so nice thankful! It must have been the fast running that cured me. :)

You and I were both running sick 5K's today! No puhn intended. Nice job working through it. I haven't had one race this season where I've waken up and said you know what I feel great! All of them have had some nagging pain or soreness. It just goes to show that sometimes it's our mind holding our bodies back. Have faith in Boston! You're going to do great!!

Hey, PIC can't wait for you to drag me around Boston!! :D.

Julie~

You know that when I said I thought Rachelle could run a sub 3:20? Well ... you know that really means that I think you will transport her to a 3:15, right?

From Smooth on Sat, Apr 07, 2012 at 22:01:06 from 174.27.212.157

Wow! What an AWESOME 5K with a stomach bug and running solo! You are golden for Boston! GREAT WORK, Rachelle!

I loved this report! I saw your post about the stomach bug and was worried, but here I check on you and you smashed it anyway - nice!
