Track workout solo this morning.  Jen couldn't make it but I still really wanted to get the workout in.

4 up/1.5 down 6 x 800 + 1 mile with 400 active recovery.  2:53, 2:56, 2:54, 2:53, 2:53, 2:51, 6:05 (aided on the road on the way home).  My goal was not to hammer these but to hit 2:55 and dial my legs into the faster turnover.  Tough workout but  mission accomplished.  I have obviously been watching way too much Yo Gabba Gabba with my niece & nephew because my mantra for the workout was "Don't stop, don't give up."

Feet were definitely noticeable when running fast.  I also forgot to wear gloves (it was 48 degrees) and my hands went into spasm as soon as I got home.  I couldn't even get my ring off my finger they were so swollen.  Could my Raynaud's in my fingers/hands be related to the feet issue?  The feet seem worse in the heat though...I'm so confused!  Dr. Appointment on the 23rd.

Great workout, Rachelle!

I am hoping the feet are not related to Raynauds -- I don't think so, since it is heat related and not cold ... but the body is a complicated thing.

I am wondering if you should try shoes or socks? I have had a similar problem when I run on the track. I ended wearing some slightly thicker socks to keep my feet from sliding around in my shoes - I also have over time tried many types of lacing of my shoes -- I finally found one that I swear helped my plantar fasciitis. The double helix: http://www.fieggen.com/shoelace/lacingmethods.htm looks like a method worth giving a try?? Down side to playing with these lacing techniques is having too tight shoes can cause a lot of foot pain, that sometimes mimics more serious injuries :)

Angie - I cannot stop singing it! Somebody help me. :)

Bonnie - Thanks so much for the suggestions. I have tried quite a few different shoes & socks and the problem persists...but with that said I have found shoes that make it better. Right now I am looking into getting a pair of Hoka's for added support on recovery days. I already lace my shoes funny to widen the toe box but will also look into alternatives. That link is really fun. :)

ok -- i'm not exactly sure what happens with your feet, but it could be related. my hands are a lot worse, but it happens to my feet sometimes as well. i lose all circulation and blood flow and the bottoms of my feet will go numb and lose all color (it's very attractive). is this the issue or is it something different?

nice work on the track today.

here are some more specific running laces, and what they do:

the other site is pretty fun though!

By the way, I use the one for "high arches" and it pretty much cured my PF!

Great workout today Rachelle! I wish I knew more about feet so I could help. :(

From Rachelle on Fri, May 10, 2013 at 10:11:31 from 199.190.170.29

Allie - It is definitely different I think. My feet are much worse in the heat and the more friction there is (uphill/downhill/landing hard on my forefront when I run fast) the worse it is. It is odd...very odd!

Bonnie - I am definitely going to try it. Thank you!

yes, i did some back reading on your blog -- definitely doesn't seem like it's the same thing. i can only join the conversation if we are talking about raynauds :) i hope you can get it all figured out at your appointment in a couple of weeks.
