Personal:

I decided to join to hold myself accountable for my training and because I love learning from others running experiences.  I just started running a little over a year ago and have a lot to learn.  I work fulltime as a Manager of Telecommunications for Intermountain Healthcare and go to school online through Weber State University.  If you want to know more check out my blog: www.runningfortrevor.blogspot.com

9 mile tempo 7:00, 6:54, 6:44, 6:48, 6:34, 6:44, 6:44, 6:38, 6:28.  Paces are a little inconsistant but the effort felt very consistant.  This was done on a double loop with some good rollers.  I had a harder time getting into a rythm than last weeks tempo and the first 2 miles felt harder than the pace but after I got rolling everything felt good.  My feet did not bother me at all which I am very happy about.  Overall pace including warmup and cooldown was 7:06 for the 12.5 miles.

PM:  2.6 easy.  I'm not sure if it was the new shoes I threw on for this run or the half bag of chex mix I ate before I went out but I felt REALLY good.  I had to keep reminding myself to slow down!  There is definitely something to be said about the effects of carbs and high mileage training.....even if it was semi embarassing when the grocery store clerk skimmed my cart and asked "So how many kids do you have?".....haha "none but my 13lb dog really likes twizlers & Chexmix."   :)

Pretty sure you just ran a 10K PR during that last 2/3 of that workout!

Rachelle, you are a machine. What time did you do this run? What was the temp?

From Rachelle on Tue, Aug 07, 2012 at 14:21:37 from 159.212.71.25

Thanks guys I am trying to build my confidence in the idea of running 7 minute miles for the duration of 26.2 miles...it still sounds completely insane to me!

Kam - I started at 6:10am and have no clue what the temp was. It did not seem too warm though.

Hey I put the SHP 5K course on the course tool...

"Sugar House Park 5K - Dash for Donation"

Its not a fast course!! :-)

From Rachelle on Tue, Aug 07, 2012 at 16:54:04 from 67.199.182.207

Yeah I ran it last year and it is definitely not a fast course. It is a great workout though. :)

I'm excited you are coming. It is way laid back and not chip timed. My goal for you is to run the course three times before the majority of my family finishes the 2k. :)

From Jake K on Tue, Aug 07, 2012 at 16:55:43 from 155.100.226.54

The way the course map has described it, the 2K has to be pretty close to 2 miles, right? One loop around the park is more than 2K to begin with :-)

Definitely will be a good workout. I was going to run a solo 5K on the track... but running some hills will hopefully make me tougher

hmmm I am not sure about the 2k....it is a good thing I told my grandma and grandpa it is only 1.2 miles and really easy! :)

I do know that last year the 5k was 3.25.

Great tempo run Rachelle, maybe someday I'll be able to tempo like that again!!

From RAD on Tue, Aug 07, 2012 at 18:03:15 from 98.202.23.178

oh how I miss the days of 9 mile tempos! No...really :)

Nice work out there Rachelle! Good luck this Saturday!

From Jake K on Tue, Aug 07, 2012 at 18:43:08 from 67.177.11.154

haha yeah that's what i'm expecting based on the map i saw... its always convenient to finish the races in SHP at the very end of that parking lot by the pavilion... except that means about 100m or so gets added on :-)
