| Hello......Remember me??? Im back on the Grid.....Hopefully! Last November/December I hurt my back so bad that I couldn't WALK for a week, then after about 3 months of rehab/chiropractor/steroid injections.... Im hopefully better! The Doc says I did TOO much after having a BABY! I know they always tell you to take it easy after having a baby, but stuff like that never applies to me.....RIGHT!!!! ( anyway, the scoop was that my stomach muscles were sooo stretched out, that my core wasn't supporting my back--guess thats what i get for having giant babies back to back!)....hee hee hee....love my little guys!
I have just been running about 2 miles a day for the last few weeks, today I made the BIG jump to 3 miles! Later went for a 10 mile bike ride with my hubby........It feels soooo good to do something and not just lay around the house! Im still taking it slow, I feel like I could do more, but this time I am listening to the dr and "gradually" increasing my activity! I have been keeping up on all your blogs, but have been a little jealous I guess to post anything! hee hee hee Tomorrow I am running with my Good friend Joelle and very excited to run outside!!!!! yeah!

| back is feeling tons better...im just slowly increasing my mileage....i have been going 2-3 miles a day, now i think i will do 4's for awhile...still debating if im signing up for SG marathon. not sure if my back/butt is ready for training yet...im just happy that i am running pain free these days!

ran with 2 new friends today Cathy eightkidmom and Katie! Did the Bloomington loop by our house. Came home and did weights and yoga before work Also, Ironman did a special feature on my husband for doing the IronMan and loosing weight. He lost over 100 lbs and has totally changed his life. ran 10 miles down the marathon coarse with Cheri, Cathy and Katie. I slept in and had to drive up to find them on the coarse. Good news is that i was planning on dropping my car off and then only doing eight, but since I slept in I ended up doing 10! Yeah! Although to be fair....I did walk alot! But Im still counting it as 10 miles! Its the most I have ran since I got preggers! Other good news was, It worked out that I didn't have to end up running the full 16 miles that everyone else did :) After I got home My husband and I went on a 20 mile bike ride. It was a easy recovery ride for him, but a hard grueling ride for me!

| I was so sore from Xfit yesterday, that I skipped my morning run with Cheri and Courtney. Later I wish I had run....oh well. This evening I went out to the lake (Sand Hallow) and swan 1 miles with Jennifer and my husband. I have never done an open water swim like this before, but thought I would try it. I probably panicked like 15 times the first half mile, then the last half mile felt a little better....sometimes its just so creepy swimming in the middle of the lake. I think Im going to try to do this more often.

| I was suppose to go into work early. My work called and asked if I could be the closing nurse instead and come in at 2pm. My bed felt so comfy....the answer was easy! So around 930am after the kids woke up and ate, I put them in the running stroller and ran/walked. That thing is dang heavy and hard to push, I don't even bother bringing my watch! Very nice outside; tons of people at the park, playing in river, and golfing! Summer is here! came home and did 20 min yoga workout. Felt good to get all stretched out from Xfit yesterday!

I wanted to see if I could do an olympic length tri today. My husband and I went and did it today. I had so much fun. Our transition times however were like 30 min long! But it was fun, and hot. We finished around 130pm. Swam 1 mile Bike 20 miles Ran 6 miles (pace 850) P.S. Best moment of the day was when we met Heather and Trevor Wurtele (Pro's that currently reside in SG. Heather won SGIM the last 2 yrs).......So Cool, but the best part was right after we got done talking with them I got on my bike, rode for 30 seconds then tipped over and fell over cuz my darn foot couldn't get out of my clips!.......so embarrassingly awesome!........can't stop laughing now that Ive been thinking about it!

| Woke up early and did interval Workout with Cheri. I was just not feelin it today. We ran hard as we could for 7 minutes x4. I had zero energy. I have been doing strict Paleo diet for the last few weeks and I think I can totally tell today, I need more energy. I am going to start eating the Paleo for endurance athletes now that I am running more etc (incorporating more carbs). I hope this helps me have more energy....it's not good when you want to fall asleep during the workout! Came home and ate carbs.....I could literally feel the sugar entering my brain.....much needed fuel! Met Ryan for lunch today. Had a taco salad! Yum....more much needed fuel! Went to Xfit this evening. Killer Workout "the Murph" ran 1 mile, 50 pullups(scaled), 100 pushups (scaled), 200 squats (scaled), ran 1 mile first mile pace 7:12, second mile pace 8:02 I had so much more energy at crossfit, than this morning! Food =Good!!!!!

They are all such cute skinny things.....makes me want to keep exercising......ahhhhh.....one day! After swam laps at pool. I was pretty nervous to do this, but it was fun. Swimming was nice, It was nice to give my legs a little rest.....my quads still feel trashed from monday's Xfit. I think I will skip Xfit again tonight, and let my body heal!

| Track Workout this morning with Court, Cathy, Jamie, Tige, Ben & Craig. Started out doing 2x100s (didnt start watch for these). Then did 11x200s with a 2 minute rest between (39sec, 39 sec, 42 sec, 39 sec, 43 sec, 44 sec, 42 sec, 41 sec, 42 sec, 42 sec, forgot to start watch on last 200). Then did a 800m cool down. Right after went to Crossfit. Usually I like to wait awhile after I run, but I have to teach CPR to young Women tonight,so thought i would hurry and go. WOD: 7 Deadly Sins 7 rounds of: 7 toe to bar (I cant really do these hardly yet!) 7 arm curl while standing on Left leg 7 double unders (I am always whipping my self with jump rope when i do these!) 7 arm curls while standing on Right leg 7 double unders 7 Hand stand pushups (I would just hold handstand for 35sec) 7 situps Hiking in Zion with Family later today! Better be an EASY hike!

Then we tried biking to Zion, almost made it!.....I ended up getting not just one....but 2 flats.....ugg......Think my bike needs new rim tape, keep getting flats lately! so frustrating. Ryan rode ahead and came back and got me. Prob went 30 miles???

| Visiting my parents up in Northern Utah. I love when I am at my parents....they tell me to do stuff like "sleep in" and "take naps" and they will "watch the kids"!!!! HEAVEN! I slept in till about 1030am, then went on a run at 11ish. I ran the first 6 miles (9 min pace) then walked ran the last 2. I was just enjoying my day, stopped at park for a bit, ran past my old High school, ran past the new Temple being built (Brigham City). I needed this day! Yeah! |

my husband and I went to Cabo Mexico for this week. We ran outside. It was kinda crazy trying to find a run that didn't seem to dangerous. I was glad that I had my 6'3" husband as my running buddy/bodyguard. We found a great course that we ran in a jungle/state park for a few of the miles. Very humid and hot! After, I had brought my DVD workout Jillian Michaels no more trouble zones. My husband helped me steal (temporarily) the 5 lb weights from our resorts gym and brought them back to our room to do the workout.....I made my husband return them and apparently he got in trouble! ha ha ha....we are such rebels! Guess I wont be doing this again!

Later tonight, we already have a babysitter lined up for Ryan and I to go on a bike ride! yeah! run avg pace 8:00min/mile swam: 1450 yards evening bike ride didn't go as planned. Got another flat at beginning of ride....so frustrating! Since we had already gotten a sitter, we decided to go to the movies instead! We got alot of strange stares because we were in our riding clothes and padded shorts!

These pushed me and I still feel out of shape from being on vacation for last 2 weeks, but I still felt like I had alot of energy left after so I decided to go to Crossfit right after. WOD: Max dead lift 75# Then 3 rounds of: Turkish Get ups (5#) X5 Dead lifts (55#) X5 50 situps After, I took kids to park in jogging stroller!

Met Heidi, Pegg, and Cheri to run up Snow Canyon this morning. This killed me. I haven't run this run for like 2+ yrs.....but I'm glad its over with! I really need to do more hill work I decided. Usually I start this run just at the base of Snow Canyon, but we started about a mile before the base of Snow Canyon.....and I could totally feel it at the end. I think I like just doing this run as an 8 miler instead! Locked my keys in the car! I am so spacey in the mornings (well ESPECIALLY in the mornings!). Heidi drove me home and they Ryan said he would run out there and then drive my car back.....what a nice husband!

| Ran SG marathon Course with Cheri and Pegg. This is the furthest I have ran in a long long long time! We had to stop a few times for bathroom breaks etc. It was a good run!
Avg pace: 7:49 After I got home, did a 12 mile bike ride with Ryan and the kids in the bike trailer. We had to turn around earlier than expected because the kids were crying....I wasn't to sad cuz I was tired from our morning run! HAPPY FORTH OF JULY WEEKEND TO EVERYONE!

| met court and ran snow canyon. Did 4 miles up and back. I felt like I had more energy with this Snow Canyon run! I tried to take it easy on the downhill to preserve my knees. Did a little walking/bathroom breaks (Probably did 7.5 miles of actual running)

| Today Ryan and I got a babysitter for most of the day (we were going to hike the subway in Zion....but we didn't end up doing the hike)...so.....we decided to have a fun day of exercising! We started off day by swimming 1.2 miles at Sand Hollow Res. (I still zig zag all over when I am swimming....so thinking I may have swam further than 1.2) Then we drove to the top of the Huge Hurricane Hill (because I hate riding my bike up....as well as down that scary hill). We parked our car then biked into Zion NP. We biked all the way to the end....took lots of pictures.....then biked back into Springdale and got some lunch....yum.....! We then biked back to our car....I liked the ride back to our car much much more! It was more down hill! We ended up biking 55 miles! K, I am kinda thinking about doing the Utah Half Ironman in Provo in August with Ryan.....I haven't signed up, but feel like I COULD finish it at this point (Which is my main goal).....I almost signed up a few minutes ago....but chickened out again.....but strongly thinking about it at this point. AAAAAHHHHHH I hate deciding!

met with Heidi and Court and did 6 mile santa clara loop. I can tell I haven't ran in 1+ week (Went to Yellowstone last week, I packed my running clothes/shoes....didn't put them on once!!!!!! I enjoyed last weeks R and R, but majorly regretting it on our morning run!) Ran with Heidi and Court the first 4 miles at 7:30 to 7:40 pace, the last 2 miles ran by myself at 8:30 to 9:00 pace.....I feel so out of shape, but just motivation to get better! Right after I was going to go swimming with Peggy, but she slept in, so I ended up going to crossfit Crossfit Chelsea (30 min) 5 pull ups 10 push ups 15 airsquats (I did around 29 of these, but I lost count......I actually liked this workout!) Came home and Breanna brought over a bike saddle for me to borrow, that has a split seat. I am excited to try it.....hope it will help my bike rides be more comfy.....might go on a ride later today....after a nap!

Tonight planning on going to the Tri club swim/bike workout at the lake.....why does this make me so nervous? PM K, so the swim/bike workout wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! Everyone was extremely nice. Swam 1 mile. (even though I feel like I swam way more, because I am all over the place in that lake, I seriously need to work on swimming straight) Biked 15 miles. Had to stop several times to adjust my seat and oh ya, something is wrong with my clips. I couldn't get my Left foot clipped in. I had to take my shoe off, clip it on, then put my foot in! AWESOME! I think I am nuts...I just signed up for the UTAH HALF DISTANCE IRONMAN next month....I have never done a triathlon, but guess I better start somewhere!

| Woowza! Im tired. Today ran 13 down SG marathon course with Pegg and Cheri. I was suppose to do 15, but I slept in, so I had to come find them on the course and it was so hard, because I think I saw over 100 people running, but I finally found them. Had a good pace. I pushed myself....but I felt that I had plenty left in the tank (for the rest of my day!) Avg pace: 7:36 After, went home picked up Ryan and cousin Randy and headed out to Sand Hallow. Swam 1 mile along the Dam then did a 15 mile bike ride after. Came home and kids were ready for a nap! Yeah! So I joined in!

K...this is really really gross! But it explains why I can't run for 1 week. I had a blister on my toe (no big deal right????) Well after it popped on my saturday run and then I went to Sand Hallow that day. FYI: Sand Hallow isn't the cleanest lake. I actually to the "Swimmer Itch" there a few weeks ago. But even worse, I got some sort of bacteria in my blister. I woke up Sunday morning and my toe was huge, swollen, tender. Monday morning I went to the podiatrist and he said he had to remove my toenail because he thought the infection spread to the root of the nail. Well it didn't spread (whew!), and he said I caught it early enough that it didn't get to bad. Anyway, He said no running for a week and I am on 2 diff antibiotics.....so crazy!
I am kinda depressed this week because I can't run or swim....I am hoping to bike this weekend. I did go to crossfit today and that was fun.....but i just love to run so much more! WOD J.T. (for time) 21-15-9 handstand push-ups, ring dips, push-ups

| The following post is in tribute to Burt: Today I road my bike the ironman loop (45 miles). It near done killed me. My bike so more comfartable to ride since my pro bike fitted. I did loop 30 min faster then usual! Best $ i spend in long time. After, I run 5 miles. It different experence running after riding. It hot outside. I ran at 11am. rode bike 45 miles around IM loop with Cathy, Tige and Gwen. They did a track workout before the ride, so I was able to keep up a little better! My IT band still kills, the free massage I got yesterday totally helped! I need more of those more often! | ran 19 with Cheri and Court. Cheri's foot started to hurt around mile 3, so she ran back to the car. I wasn't to sure how far I was gonna run, because of my IT band. I made court run on the other side of the road so the slant wouldn't bug my knee. What a good friend! I brought my phone just incase I needed to bail, but I felt great pretty much the whole run. My knee started to barely bother me just before the finish....so I was happy! Ran a good pace, but was still able to talk and carry on a conversation pretty much the whole way! Avg pace 7:44

run up snow canyon. We meet earlier than usual today because of some time constraints with a running buddy. It was a little scary. There was a parked car at the top of snow canyon that kept turning on and off his lights. We thought he drove past us slowly as well, but we couldn't be to sure. I was really feeling the run today, but after scary creepo guy, we decided to run together..and almost jumped and hid in the bushes a few times.....strength in numbers! I need to start bringing my mace!

| k, so on sunday my 3 yr old (who by the way is a very 'solid' 3 yr old) was flushing stuff down the toilet and i grabbed him out of the way...anyway, i did the whole 'bend and twist' thing and my back got really strained. Just my luck!
So since I have that half ironman this weekend and I actually want to finish, i have been doing some major resting. I didn't work this week at all. I sent my kids to the babysitter anyway, so I wouldn't have to lift them. I went to the chiropractor 3 times and also had a massage! Wow, I feel exhausted just re-cooping! Anyway, I have felt pretty good this morning. My back just feels a little tweeked now, so I attempted 3 miles on the TM and did pretty good! So, my plan this saturday is to just go REALLY SLOW (which won't be hard anyway!) & see how my back feels and just play it by ear....oh, ya and have fun!
Im not sure how it will go, since I have only done 3 miles.....but at least I know I can complete 3 miles of the 70.3......!

Holy Cow....I did it! I did the Utah Half Ironman Tri on sat. My first Tri ever! The morning of the race I woke up cursing my husband for talking me into signing up for this! All I have to say is running after biking that long.....UUUGGGGGG! I feel like I got a huge education in triathlons.......looking back now, there is so many things I would have done different.....live and learn. I am however very please with my time. I had several goals and mini self accomplishments for me! I wanted to do it in under 6 hrs! I wanted to do the bike portion in under 3 hrs! This is the furthest I have ever rode my bike in my life! First open water swim with other people kicking and clawing! Got to kiss my hubby on the run course (I know cheesy!)
My only frustration is I walked over half of the run course. The bike trashed my legs and it was super duper hot! Also, my back and knee felt pretty good the whole time!

| SOOOOOOO BUMMMMEEEDDD!!!! Went to the podiatrist today & the good news is I do not have a stress fracture in my foot, which i was a little worried about. But the bad news is I have tendonitis in my 5th metatarsal. Said no running for 3 weeks! What, this can't be happening 3 Weeks before the marathon! So Bummed! He said biking hard or getting up out of saddle aggravated it and now running is aggravating it. It seems to be a little better today, I could actually walk w/o limping.... He said I could probably try to do the marathon....key word is "TRY"....but if it starts to hurt even a little, I need to hop on the "bus"....and he said just to run for fun.......well it isn't very fun for me if I can't do as good as I have trained for, so not sure at this point what I will do! Better news, is he said it should be totally healed within a couple months! I have been toying around with the idea of doing the IronMan before I decide to have baby #3.....so maybe this is what I can look forward too! I feel so lost if I don't have an exercise goal!

went to chiropractor today and he said my foot could be having tendonitis because my cuboid bone in my foot is jammed..He did this thing to my foot that hurt like HELL (pardon my french!)...it was called the "black snake whip" and I had several loud pops from my foot. But my foot felt alot better when i was done and I was able to walk out with any pain shooting up my foot/leg......so crazy, thanks Dr Miyasaki ....unfortunately my tendons in my foot are still sore, and i still need to take it easy for awhile, but at least this is a step in the right direction!

I haven't ran one bit in almost 4 weeks. Besides the fact that I am out of shape and like to eat cookies, chips, and soda! Im not sure if I want another injury! But I think I will try a couple miles on treadmill tomorrow, pick up my race packet and decide early saturday morning! My good friend Cheri also hurt her foot and she is going to walk/run the marathon. So I was thinking I would just have "fun" with it and do it with her and hop on the bus if there is any inkling of pain........ I hate making decisions! I guess we shall see!

| Today both happy and sad. I am happy I tried the SG marathon in spite of being hurt. If you would have asked me a month ago when i got injured if I could run 13 miles, I wouldn't have believed you. But I do wish I would have listened to my body and took more time off, I feel like even though I did run 13 miles (yeah!), I set myself back a couple weeks.
4 am woke up. I still was having doubts about running the marathon. I did 20 min of yoga, got ready, ate oatmeal mixed with some protein powder. Went to the park to catch the bus. I ran into many people there who thought I was crazy for even trying the race today. This gave me even more doubt. I was ready to walk back to the car. My husband told me to just give it a shot and there is no shame in quitting. Lots of people do it. I did want to so be apart of the action! (between babies and injuries, I haven't done the SGM in5 yrs)....so I got on the bus like a zombie, still not knowing if I should run. Got off the bus. I was suppose to meet Cheri and the aid station, but our bus was late and the race shortly started. I actually ran with my clothes bag etc for the first mile, I didn't have time to walk over to the clothes drop off before the race. I started out slowly. about 10 min mile pace, just to feel out my foot/ankle and see how it was holding up. At mile 2 I found Cheri and Natalie Christensen and started running with them (they two also have injuries and are in it just to finish....like me!) Ran around a 830 pace. I felt like I could go much faster, but really did not want to push it. I felt like I was rolling the dice on this race! I caught myself running in the 7min range a few times and realized I lost Cheri and Nat. I stopped to tie my shoe once and wait for them. But realized I had lost them. So I just started running and paying attention to my body. I ran up Veyo hill and couldn't believe how well my foot/ankle felt. I was so very happy. I felt the "runner's high" setting it! I was just happy to be running....period. Mile 12 I started to feel a little weakness in my ankle. Normally if I felt this while running, I would have blew it off like no big deal, but I don't know if I was extra in tune or paranoid, but I started to walk. I walked prob 400m then started to run again. It was gone! yeah!!!! Wrong, I then stepped down and it hurt more. It wasn't a sharp pain like I first experience when I originally hurt my foot, but a dull ache. So I walked more, prob a half mile. Saw the bathrooms and decided to take a little break. After, as soon as i came out, I saw Cheri and Nat! Ran and chatted with them for a sec. My ankle still bothered me and I tried to ignore it, but it was still there. I then realized I needed to follow my doctors advice and listen to my body and.......this would be a good time to stop. I didn't want it to progress to my full blown injury again. I said farewell to Cheri and Nat and told them I was going to catch the shuttle back. It must have been fate or more like divine intervention, but right after I said that I turned around and saw the shuttle van. I flagged them down and hopped in. There were a few others in the van, so I didn't feel to bad. They welcomed me on. We drove two more aid stations and someone over the intercom said there was another runner that needed on the shuttle. As I looked out to see who the runner was I saw Amber and my heart hurt for her. She was also injured and I felt so bad. I know the pains of realizing you have an injury, but to get one during a race is awful. It is so hard when your body won't do what your mind knows you can. After the slow ride back to town, I saw a few of my friends running and was so excited for them. Yeah to Court and Cathy who both PR'd! When we got back to the finish line, I hoped in my car and drove home. Picked up my kids and parents who were visiting and made our way back to the finish line to cheer for Ryan. He didn't train at all. Ever since the Ironman he has barely run. His goal was to finish under 6 hrs and he got 451. We had a laugh that his Ironman Marathon time wasn't much slower!!!! All in all, I learned a lesson today to listen to my body and heart. I am glad I am not back at ground zero with my injury and felt if I kept running I would have been. But I should have just been a spectator for one more yr, (running is my drug of choice, and I just can't stay away!)........there will always be another race!!!!

She is such an amazing swimmer! After we tried water jogging! We put on these floaty belt devices, so we couldn't touch the ground and then "jogged" several laps. It was actually really fun and very comical! I think we finally got the hang of it after awhile!

| today I started a new class at the Washington Rec center called HIT training. (High Intensity Training). Once a week we bring in our bikes and trainers and do a class on our bikes. Sort of like spin, but better. It is hopefully going to make me a better biker! I really struggle in this department! I was kind of nervous to do this class, everyone in there are serious bikers, but it was fun. I did set my stuff up in the back and just had fun. My friend Allyson is doing the class with me. The class kicked my butt! We did these things called ILT's (where we peddeled with just one leg and then alternated) It will b a fun 12 weeks! Estimated approx 20 miles

| swam with my cousin Randy today. Also, swam with Heidi and Pegg (not planned, but it was soooo crowded that we were all swimming in the old lady pool and there were like 10 people swimming in there with us. I think eveyone was burning off all that pie!! When we were there a swim coach was giving us pointers on technique...it was very helpful! |

| swam a little under a mile. I went at noon today and was the only one swimming laps! Not sure what I like better, being the only one for all the lifeguards to stare at or being over crowded and no one watching me!!! |
