Running Accomplishments:

Finished two Big Sur Marathons (BSIM) in 1999 (3:59 I think, and I can't remember exactly what year!) and 2008 (4:25.28). Had knee problems before 2008 BSIM and so didn't train sufficiently - hoping to stay injury free for 2009 event.

95:23 in 2006 in Tilden Tough Ten (10 miles) in Berkeley, Calif.

Logan First Dam Run 2006 53 mins (can't remember exactly) - Have to take these things more seriously!

Short-Term Running Goals:

Break 3:45 in 2009 Big Sur Marathon and 3:30 in 2010.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run at least 1 Marathon and 1 1/2 Marathon every year .

Personal:

Single; Trying to learn Spanish - listening to Spanish radio podcasts while running -  dos parajos de un tiro!

Shameful week last week! I had some sort of low level bug which I put down to getting chilled to the bone a week ago yesterday while rescuing the dog. It came and went all week but on Thursday and Friday I could hardly walk the 1 mile from home to work without breaking out into a sweat.

Gorgeous day - finally could run in shorts and the DEER TRAIL IS OPEN!!!! I don't think I could run the roads to Smithfield again if I got paid by the yard - at least not until next winter. I really hit a wall psychologically.

Ran from  USU to the power station in Green Canyon then along the Bonneville Trail to 1st Dam, then more or less along second stage of the 1st Dam 10 route and then back to USU. The deer trail had some snow but it was definitely runnable with outstanding views of the Wellsvilles.

So.... 

Warm!

Good air!

Shorts!

No roads! 

Furlough next week - but even though it means losing money campus will be closed and so I can get some work done in peace and concentrate on the running too.

Obviously it was bad karma to get so excited yesterday. More than 1 foot of snow. Trails closed: roads impassable almost....oh well

Well, it seems like injuries kick in more or less 2/3rds though a marathon training schedule. Everyone I know personally who's training for a spring marathon was out injured last week. Rooster with his foot, another friend with a heel, another with her knee and last week my left knee started playing up again. Rested it and today it felt good. 

Up GC and back along deer trail. I won't comment on how good it felt to run on trails, in shorts, in a T-shirt, in the sun because last time I did we got a foot of snow the next day.
