5:15 am Treadmill run.  8 mile General Aerobic run with 10 x 100's.  Tried to keep my HR around 135 this seemed to be about a 7:00 min/mil pace it did creep up to about 145 by the end of 6 miles before I started repeats.

Dreaded the thought of repeats today since my hamstring is still tight, but after the first one it seemed to loosen up and then I really enjoyed them, they make the miles go by faster.

400 meter swim in 10 minutes after my run just to relax a little bit.

Hey Rob, saw your comment on Jeff's blog about the Running Times article. I totally get it as someone who is currently dealing with a post-marathon achilles injury that will probably end up sabotaging my racing season this year.

I'll probably never give up marathons though. The combination of mental and physical challenge is so appealing. A love-hate thing I guess...

Nice workout today. Emphasizing speed is always a good idea especially as we age and speed/power begin to decline.

I have really been wondering lately what all this work I put into running is for, I love running but the amount of time it takes to get ready for a Marathon "properly" really does take it's toll on everyday life, family, and the body. I seriously doubt I will ever "win" a marathon, I just like having a goal to prepare for, and I happen to have an all or nothing personality.

I also love the fact that at 37 years old I am in better shape than I have ever been. I fear that if I ever went back to not having an event bookmarked on my calendar I would go back to the overweight out of shape desk worker I once was.
