I herniated/ruptured a disk (L4/L5) in my back in December, 2005. I told my orthopedic surgeon I wanted to start running. He said "You'll never run again.". What a challenge! So...I started running.
Since then I've lost about 50 pounds, ran 13 marathons and a number of other races.
I am still a clydesdale runner (over 200 lbs), have a large frame, big bones, and not built like a runner at all. I'm not fast. I mostly run to have some time to myself and keep in shape.

| AM: 10.1 miles up and down Smithfield Canyon. Calfs a little sore so I took it easy going up the canyon. Felt good going down. AP: 7:44/mile.
Noon: 4.01 miles in North Logan in the heat. Felt good.

10 miles up and down Smithfield Canyon. Pushed it really hard on the way up. About at mile 4.5 my right forefoot started getting pretty sore, so I slowed down a little bit for the rest of the run. 7:32/mile AP.

18.2 miles. Went up and down Smithfield Canyon with Joanna. She was on her bike. 9.1 Miles with a 7:24/mile AP. Afterwards, went up and down Smithfield Canyon again with Claire. Went a bit slower as her legs weren't feeling that great. Good morning of running.
