So Saturday I walk downstairs to see what's up with my five-year-old son. He's all alone, singing and dancing making a video. I didn't initially realize he was recording it on the computer, but here it is (he chose all the effects himself):

Awesome video! Definitely star potential there! Did he learn all his moves from his old man?

Looks like he takes after his dad.
Paul, I have a question about your soleus tendonitis. Does it get worse as the run goes on? Is it the whole lower calf that hurts or just one side?

I think your son and my daughter went to the same song lyric writing class.

Thanks for the comments. I do think my son is darling.
Rhett, I find it difficult to describe my tendonitis as the pain/tenderness/stiffness is not always in the location. Lately, it seems to be lower than it initially was. It is also based a little more medially than laterally. I do think it gets worse the longer I run/exercise, which is what as been so frustrating. By the time I run/exercise to a point where it is sensitive, I've probably set back the healing and haven't got the fitness benefits I was after to begin with. It is sort of silly, because I've already lost so much running-specific fitness by not being able to run long, so I finally am realizing that should swallow my pride and really make an effort to get it better.

Love the video!! All the confidence too!! My girls would stop if I walked in a room with them dancing.
So have you tried an ace bandage while running? Does it hurt after a run or only while running? Did you recently change shoes? I have and I have had some intense burning tendinitis in the left ankle up to the knee more laterally than medially and today I ran with an ace bandage and it I didn't feel it. My new shoes started the problem along with stepping up the pace in them. I also wore the bandage to work and the pain was minimized greatly. Good luck :D

Thanks for the response Paul. I either have a touch of the same thing or have strained my soleus muscle, but laterally. I notice that when I train in my flats and lighter weight trainers it gets worse, but when I stick with my shoes with more cushion and heel lift it doesn't bother me as much.

so true!! when I switched to "zeroed" shoes (removing the heel in case you haven't heard the new craze to make shoes closer to barefoot) that's when my achilles tendon to my knee laterally acted up too. My old shoes feel wayyyy cushioned now. I guess we all have weak ankles.

I see that your parenting must foster major self confidence. Cool beans.
