I had to google the ArcTrainier that is one crazy machine. Is it like an elliptical? I know you have talked about this before but I have "mad cow" and can't remember.

From Rhett on Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 14:46:13

Yes, it is very close to an elliptical machine, but a bit tougher. I think the stride length is a bit longer.

From DonGardinero on Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 14:46:22

I need to get me one of those Arc Trainers. They probably cost an arm and a leg.

From Rhett on Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 15:06:32

I just did a search on them. They run $5500. They are marketed to gyms. I came across an interesting article comparing eliptical machines to the ArcTrainer and what they said I would agree with. One nice thing is, you burn about 2x as many calories per time used as on the eliptical and to me it is closer to running as long as you do it hands free.

From DonGardinero on Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 15:22:25

Ouch!!! That's a lot of dough. They look like great machines.

From Teena on Tue, Dec 30, 2008 at 16:16:26

$5500??? I think I will stick with my elliptical. One of these days when I am feeling overly brave I will try that Arc machine of yours at the gym. (I hate trying new stuff in front of people I don't know ... actually, in front of people period ... but perhaps I will have a courageous moment one of these days and give it a go.)

AWESOME workout with the Arc. Machines scare me period.
