MORNING

weight training

45 mins eliptical

Today is my last goal day of 2 a days.  I don't know what I'm going to do tonight in celebration.  I've kind of gotten used to the 2 a days.  I hope I don't start getting fat again after I go back to 1 workout a day.  When I started doing this the Monday after Thanksgiving I weighed 166.5 lbs this morning I weighed in at 156.0.  I guess it worked.

EVENING

I celebrated my final 2 a day with 1 hour of jump roping and plyometrics.  That is the end of 2 a days.... at least for the rest of this week.

Nice weight control! I know when I've added some 2 a days it has really helped. It's cool that on occasion you can even sneak in a workout at lunch. You are very inspiring.

Hey Rhett, what is your time goal at Painter's?

I have a question for you on speed work. Should I alternate every week between intervals and temo runs or should I do one of each every week?

From Rhett on Wed, Dec 24, 2008 at 11:32:46

Dale,

It can be done either way and since you are just starting speed work, I think I would alternate every other week, but I would do hill repeats once a week to build strength. After doing hills for a while then I would start doing the speed and intervals both each week. I always try and get in 3 quality runs per week. Everything else is either recovery miles or cross training. The 3 workouts are speed intervals, tempo, and long runs. I try and mix in some hill work into those workouts.

Oh, and my Painter's goal. I'd like to average 6:30 min/mile. I haven't figured out what time that is yet, but I think it is around 1:26. What is your goal, Dale?

From DonGardinero on Wed, Dec 24, 2008 at 12:31:28

Thanks for the tips, Rhett. I'll do it like you said. That should work out just fine.

As for Painter's, My original goal was to beat my time from last year of 2:35. I'm pretty sure I'll beat that with no problem, so I'm hoping for at least 2:15. If I can stay focused during the race I might be able to pull out 2:10.

Dale
