Completed a dozen marathons and a handful of 50 mile ultras.
Short-Term Running Goals:
Consistent aerobic and strength training.
Long-Term Running Goals:
Participate in 5k and 10k races.
Personal:
I started more dedicated running and racing in my thirties. Eventually I developed symptomatic bradycardia and SVT which required a cardiac pacemaker implant and a cardiac cath ablation. It has taken a long time to get back to running consistently again. Counting my blessings and trying to remain more balanced with fitness.

13.1 mi on a mostly flat course (7:41 avg). Not easy because I ran wet and cold once again. No fun, but I did see a big buck in the woods though. I think he'd score in the 130s.
Nice buck. You must be a hunter? I hear Iowa has some really good bucks. Are the woods you run through pulic or mostly private land? I always love seeing wildlife on my runs.
Thanks Dave. I run on bike paths in both public and private areas. Yes, I'm a hunter. This is my 10th year hunting whitetails. I also go pheasant and turkey, but haven't done that as often as deer. Deer are active right now as rut is peaking here. Bucks are ready for a fight you can just tell. Do you get out and hunt as well?
I love bowhunting whitetails in the rut. I've hunted northern Idaho several times and Nebraska a couple of times but haven't been the past 3 years. I get antsy this time of year to go but I don't think it's happening again this year. Maybe next year. I did get out after elk and mule deer though. Are you or did you hunt this year?
I hunt with a party of relatives and friends during shotgun season, which begins in three weeks. Bowhunters and muzzle loaders get to enjoy rut here in Iowa. Shotgun comes afterwards. That's ok though because I just love getting out there. Sometimes I think I could really chase one down if it wasn't for my heavy boots and snow. As you know, deer are sprinters.
