Did a long run today on my old familiar route...did the first 12 miles in 1:33:24 (7:47 pace) and stopped by the house to switch socks.  It was humid out so I was drenched.  Grabbed a banana, half piece of bread, quick drink, ditched the shirt and I was off again within 3-4 minutes.  Got 1/4 mile down the road and realized I forgot to set my watch, so I jogged back and started the second half over again.  Ran 8 miles in 1:01:32 (7:42 pace).  Although it was humid, I kept everything at a manageable, steady pace.  Feel good about the run.  Last summer I was just beginning to build for these 20-milers, so I'm a step ahead.  The legs keep feeling better and my pants are starting to get a little looser- not sure if I've lost weight, but I'm getting better toned.

Great run this morning! Is there lot of humidity where you live. I do not have to deal with humidity that much and that and I think that is a good thing.

Also, i have another question for you. What is your take on running Sundays? I have heard a lot of thing like it is okay and then it is not okay. Thanks for you help.

Barry,

Thanks...it usually doesn't get too humid around here, but it's be rainy for the past week and I didn't get out today until 11am.

In regards to running on Sundays, it is my lowest priority...1)God/worship 2) family 3) no work- but, fellowship/recreation are areas I feel comfortable participating in- only if it doesn't divide the family...I've approached running in two ways on Sunday- 1) running while the family is napping 2) run with the family (all go to the track)

Our biggest challenge is the whole "sports scene" on Sundays. Our children are still young, so we haven't had to deal with the conflict. However, they will not miss church to play soccer.

Hope things are going well for you!

Nice 20 miler especially in the humidity. Always nice to come out of a long run feeling good. Good confidence builder.
