Ran 7 miles, mostly at a recovery pace (8:30-9min miles).  Ran a couple miles in the middle on the school track, including a quick mp mile (6:30) and 1/2 mile barefoot (working on good form).  Started to feel the hip on mile 7, but nothing all that serious.

Ran another 7 miles right before dinner on TM.  Did 8:30 warm-up, 5 @ 7:30pace, 1 @ 6:30, and 1 mile cooldown.  First run at this distance without feeling any pain in the hip.

I think I could've stayed with you for the first 7 miles. :)

Ooh. Just noticed you have the Mizuno Wave Inspire 5's. I have the 4's and think they're great. I need a new pair and have been looking on-line for a deal. I've seen the 5's. Do you have any idea how they compare?

Looks like the 5's are for over-pronators?

Hi dad! You are doing good on running...I like cheese.

Nice start to the week. Glad the hip didn't bother you on the second run. Hopefully that is a good sign of things to come.

Burt, you might try Kelly's Running Warehouse. They have good prices. It has been a long time since I bought shoes from them so can't really say much about them other than the low price. Here is the link: http://www.kellysrunningwarehouse.com.

Burt,

I'll be honest. Shoes are ok- don't dislike them, don't love them. I'm not sure how they compare with the 4's or what type they are. Just felt good at the shoe store, seemed fairly light, and they were on sale.

I'm still new enough to running that I haven't figured out the perfect shoe. If I ever do, will probably buy like 10 pairs.

Great running, looking good for your recovery.

Shoes are really complicated to buy now, so specific to foot types, weight, pronation, etc. Once you find a pair or 2 you like, buy as many as you can to stockpile because the new iteration may be different. I personally love Saucony's, Ride's for training, Tangent's for racing. I also run in some I pick on the local Big 5 for $40-50 that work good as well (not their main line shoes, discount line).

thanks jeff...good advice. I do well with Saucony's, but have never felt them to be the "perfect fit". Some of it has been my feet adjusting to increased mileage (seem to be past that stage). Then again, I'm that guy who could never grow a gotee because one side is always just uneven enough for me to whittle my way down to nothing within a few days.
