Short-Term Running Goals: Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal. It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :) I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!
Long-Term Running Goals:
Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.
Run for the rest of my life!
Personal: 4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!
Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free! I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front. After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM. Favorite Blogs: |

| | Guess What? I remember why I like to run! :) Yup, one of the best running days of the year! I went up to Layton/Farmington to meet Becca for a short little 8 miler along the old rail trail. It was perfect. I didn't want to stop. I just wanted to keep running. The company, weather and run was perfect. We averaged about an 8:20 and we just cruised and chatted. Oh, how I loved this run. I wish Becca was around more :/ I might be able to run faster and more miles if she were.

| | Yup. I'm crazy. Despite feeling still sore and fatigued from Friday's climb up Lake Mountain, I did it again. I think we got up to the top under 1:10 (which was a good push!) then the way down was just incredible. Dave and Kelli were nice and waited for me on the way up, then Kelli and I just hung out and chatted the way down. Since my garmin died, I don't know anything about pace, just that it was a great last run of the year!
There was a big group of people that joined us and I don't ever remember anyone...except Jen and the ones I already mentioned :) Jen did a "peak tour" once at the top. I think I'll have her take me on that route sometime soon.

| | Legs Are Hammered.
That is all :) I got pretty confident about all this trail running and feeling good. Well, I put together a group to meet at Dave's house for Shaggy Mountain Loop which start/ending there gives us 10.5 and uphill home. Kelli, Amy, Scott, Dave, Curtis and I all met there and enjoyed the run...as much as we could. I did well with only walking a tiny bit of uphill, but the last 2 miles my legs were just SO fatigued. No pain, just fatigue. Fight through though, right? What doesn't kill me brings back my endurance and will help me push through the 55K on my birthday in 6 weeks!

| | Oh my legs. It was slow. I don't remember running on the TM at all...I didn't want to see the pace :) Just miles on the track to shake them out and get them moving again.

| | Skiing all day. If I didn't have crazy fatigued legs I would've run early morning, but since they were hammered I decided to give them a psuedo rest day :)

New Years Half Marathon (13.109 Miles) 01:48:59 | | What to do after a rest day? run 18 miles :)
Amy and I started caravaning to the race, but then she slid and her car went over the curb! So, we left the car there and that simply meant I couldn't linger a bunch after the race, but needed to get her home. Good thing we were together! Her hubby was sleeping and not answering the phone. He was able to get a tow and get the car out while we were running though thankfully.
Amy and Lisa wanted me to run a 1:45, but with hammered legs I knew it wasn't happening. But, just around mile 4 I saw them turn the wrong way. They were maybe .25 mile ahead of me. I yelled and people whistled, but they didn't hear us :( So, I tried calling their phones, but no one answered. Poo. I was grateful that a car had gone after them...but not after they'd gone 1.25 off the route. I just pushed through and raced on. Pushing myself, but staying comfortable at the same time.
I took 2 min off my finish time, because I spent at LEAST that trying to get the girls back on track. Since this isn't a real official race anyway I'm adjusting my time :)
I called Lisa surprised they weren't back yet and she told me what had happened....ha! ooops. They'd gotten back on course, but by the time they got to the end they'd run 15.7 miles. Should've stayed with the slow one :) Their half split time was 1:46:XX, so I wasn't really all that slow behind them anyway. Oh well. It was a nice run and I didn't mind being alone.
When I got home I knew I should do more. I need to up my miles. I talked myself into doing just 5 more. A short little loop. I have a 55K coming up in 6 weeks. Get on the horse Rachel! So, I didn't even go in the house. I just took off on the loop. It was slower, but I got it done. Running on tired legs is what I need to practice, right?!?
