Short-Term Running Goals: Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal. It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :) I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!
Long-Term Running Goals:
Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.
Run for the rest of my life!
Personal: 4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!
Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free! I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front. After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM. Favorite Blogs: |

Spin and swim. 60 minutes on the bike, had to get these dead legs moving again. My lower legs/ankles are just sore, sore, sore and stiff. The stability muscles in your lower legs and feet get a huge workout on trails! I'm afraid of injury and so I'm trying to ease back into things. I can tell my body doesn't like me right now, but I don't like it all the time, so I guess turn about is fair play :) Trying to recover smart so I don't have to take time off for an injury. Then I went to the pool and swam for 35 minutes (had to get changed then get out and get changed again in time to get Adam from day-care before my 2 hrs were up). I did all pulling, some kicking mixed in and some buoy pulling. I figure I got about 1500 yds in since I do about 100 yds/2 min and I had some stop time for adjusting equipment and cap/goggles etc. I got to go give Smooth her Boston medal that Lowell picked up for her. It was a wonderful afternoon to visit and just be with one of my favorite people in the world! I could spend every afternoon on her porch visiting. Maybe when we're both old, retired and can't run anymore :)

I was ready to get up and run with Newtons this morning, but I either didn't hear my alarm or it didn't go off. I woke up in a panic when I could see light outside. It is such nice weather, I hate to miss it! But, at 6:30 I figured I might as well just sleep and go to the gym.
Ready to spin and run at the gym, but as I walked in I remembered that it was Tuesday and Adam has music at 10:45, so my plan was shot in the butt. I started out running.
3 miles on the track - no idea on pace, but definitely progressive.
Got on the TM and the 8:46 pace felt nice and comfortable...finally, a little speed that felt okay. I went progressive again finishing at a 6:53mm to total 2 miles. TT: 17:07 AP: 8:34
Sara then came to get me so that she could try out her clips on the spin bike since she is venturing out on her 33 miler for her birthday tomorrow and I'm tagging along :) So, I did the bike for 20 minutes while she got used to clipping in and out. Hopefully tomorrow on my bike she doesn't crash too bad trying the clips on the bike.
Finished up with my last mile to round things out. 8:06 - progressive. |

| | A LONG, cold, windy bike ride! But, Sara did it! With never doing a ride in her life before more than a beach cruiser to the park she brought her clip shoes and conquered 34 miles on my road bike while I tagged along with Adam on the back of my mtn bike in the baby seat. We all had a good time...especially when the hail stopped :) SO proud of Sara for conquering a cardio challenge of 33 miles for her 33rd birthday!

| | I ditched the Newtons again, but for good reason :) Becca is in town! She came a little later and we ran the 8 mile Herriman Highlands loop...I know how much she has been missing hills. | | Chad saved me from the dreaded TM today. I wanted to get miles in, but didn't want to go to the gym because it is SO nice outside. I actually woke up early and ran. Provo City Half Marathon (13.1 Miles) 01:59:58 | | 2:00 pacer for the PCHM. What a wonderful run! A nice downhill course, but not enough to tear up your quads. Met Becca at the park and ride, then met the pacers at the bus to get packets. Got to sit by MCat on the way up! Fun ride and at least they had fires to keep the main chill off in the morning. It was SO cold!!! I didn't want to get undressed when it was time. Blech. Got to see lots of friends at the start...speedy UT county girls! Then lined up with my crowd and we were off. Mostly an uneventful run down the canyon. I ran with Eric's wife the first 8 miles and around 7ish or so I picked up Earl. We chatted and just before the ever flowing fountain in the canyon he said he was going to have to drop, because his quads were tired. He hadn't finished under 2:00 for a couple years. Well, I figured it was time to pull out the big guns...the Boston story! Before he knew it we were at mile 11 and picked up another girl that was struggling because her boy pacer had run out of stories! :) I told her I'd just talk her through to the finish. I got them both to mile 12 and sent them on their way, because I was about 20 seconds cushioned that I needed to run out before the finish. Besides, by this point Becca had run back to get me and tell me about her awesome race! We slowed down and encouraged the masses on to a sub 2:00 finish! I crossed at 1:59:58.6 official time. Excellent! Afterward Becca and I ran about another mile. I'd turned my garmin off, so I'm just guessing off her watch. I loved finishing and having SO many people thank me afterward. Earl especially had to find Jonathan and tell him how awesome I was as a pacer. I truly love pacing! I could do it every weekend if I wasn't so selfish and wanted to race a few myself :) Garmin Stats (remember, when pacing I use mile markers from the course...not garmin)
AP: 9:06 splits: 9:10, 8:52, 8:58, 9:06, 9:13, 9:12, 9:14, 9:10, 9:26 (walk a water stop), 8:53, 8:54, 8:55, 9:06, 10:11 (last .18 recorded) The course didn't have markers miles 2-8, kind of frustrating honestly! But, we got back on track quite easily.
