Short-Term Running Goals: Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal. It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :) I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!
Long-Term Running Goals:
Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.
Run for the rest of my life!
Personal: 4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!
Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free! I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front. After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM. Favorite Blogs: |

| | Blah - stupid body, stupid me, stupid something. No miles, I think I need a x-training/easy week. My upper quad isn't very happy with me. I didn't feel it until Saturday afternoon, but rest Sunday didn't help. It isn't horrible, but it isn't really good either. It is better today and I think a couple of days with some easy going will do wonders (well, fingers crossed). It doesn't hurt to run, but I feel it more with walking and pressure (like when the kids sit their bony bums on my lap). So, in light of all that I took an elliptical day, 4.85 miles on L12 for 50 minutes. Reading time is good too :) I then did the first 45 min of FIT class. I love that bosu class! The regular teacher was gone and it wasn't as good as usual, but still better than going it on my own.

| | Gotta keep my running appointment with Sandra! She took the weekend off and I knew she would want to run this morning. Since it would be slow and easy, I just did the 4 with her and then went back to bed. I am SO tired! I stayed up too late last night. My husband was called into work and I got sucked into the computer (which I've been doing a good job of staying off of it and spending more time with family). AP: 9:40 (The route we did really seems like the best route for Sandra, she is able to keep a much faster pace - it's crazy how much a route can change your pace!)
I slept and slept and slept - until the last minute I HAD to wake up and get the 3 year old bathed and off to pre-school. Then I went to the church for boot camp. WOW! It was a good workout today. We did the normal warm-up stuff (which most would consider a workout) then did a circuit at our own pace: jumping jacks, plank hold while raising one arm at a time to your ear, full sit-ups, burpies, jump lunges, quad burners. You started with 60 of each, then 40, 20, 10, 5. Between each thing (jacks, plank etc) you ran a lap around the gym as well. Man, it was good times :) The first set of 60 burpies took me forever! I wanted to just run laps around the gym. It was a good workout and I feel good despite only doing 4 miles. The quad, unfortunately, isn't feeling much better. I'm stretching and rolling and just hoping this doesn't last too long. It did feel okay on the run, but afterward was whining at me.

| | Another x-training day, the quad is borderline improving. Problem is, it really only bugs me when I walk. Running and exercise don't seem to bother it much - but after, well that is another story. So, I'm trying to be good, but it isn't easy! Arc traininer - a first for me! I did incline @5 resistance @50 for 55 minutes. It said I went 1.5 on the distance - what distance? I don't know, but it felt a lot harder than just 1.5 miles! It was a wonderful sweat fest. Then I tried the master step class. I hated leaving early to get to daycare. It was a brain workout for sure, but I really liked it! I will definitely be returning.

| | Another 4 with Sandra, I really love running with someone in the mornings! I wish the quad was feeling better, but it's only marginal at this point and still tender at times. Now I'm off to yoga, if anything can help it's yoga!

| | Spin class. A much better one now that the teacher is nice and refreshed and home from Hawaii :) Great sweat fest as always! Then did her 20 min stretch afterward as well. Hit some core work on the bosu and plank on the ball 4X1:00 so, I don't think it counts as a 4min plank hold, but I'm getting there :) Oh how I LOVE this warm weather! Spent yesterday afternoon on a blanket reading in the front yard. BIG smile on this face!

A wonderful run with SO many wonderful running friends! I think there was a plethora of runners there this morning :) Ran Porter Rockwell out to the point and back with Toby to get her 12 buttoned up for the week, then Smooth had a smorgasboard for food waiting for us at the finish. I just grabbed some powerade from the car and then headed back out for a few more with Smooth, Lowell and Kathie. On the way back Teena caught us and ran us in - funny how much the pace picked up then! Thanks for pulling us in! AP: 9:17 splits: 9:43, 9:26, 9:24, 9:36, 9:38, 9:44, 9:17, 8:57, 9:16, 9:12, 9:17, 9:02, 9:19, 9:38, 9:01, 8:58, 8:35, 8:36 (last .5)
Got back to the cars in just enough time to grab some OJ and chat with Brooke for a bit (as well as the others) then jump in the car and head home. Conference weekend always puts a damper on plans due to time restraints. The quad really isn't any worse now after the run. I think if I continue to stretch and roll it will be fine through the miles. Thanks Teena for all the info on it and how to help with the taping etc. It sure is nice to have a PT (almost) in your back pocket for such emergencies. I came home fed the baby, put my MP3 on conference and went outside to work on the yard. During the 12-2 break I took my son to a party and got a few things (okay, a gazillion things) at Home Depot and then spent the rest of the day until 7PM outside getting the yard pretty with flowers and some new bushes, garden tilled in with new 'good' soil and the basketball standard cemented in. Heaven help me (and my plants) to survive the snow tonight and tomorrow :(
