Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Well, a couple of nice things happened today. First, I got up. Second I had a longer run with an AP under a 9mm...that hasn't happened for a LONG time. I will blame it on the 3.5 miles of downhill and trying to push tempo, but I'm still just happy to see it. Legs don't feel too trashed either. These are all good signs for how cruddy I've been feeling lately!

Met the BBK's for early miles and was happy to see Cal had made it out as well. I always love those early morning runs at a nice easy pace. I had fun chatting with Dean and Kelli as well. Dean gave me some clothing advice for the tri, which I desperately need.

Then we were off for the tempo - up and back on 9800S to 4800W. Nice uphill there and then you turn and get to come home downhill - something I don't get to do often when I run from home! I would've liked to have been able to keep a better pace uphill, but I need to remember baby steps...baby steps. I was able to keep up with Cal (or he was being nice and staying with me) which was also nice to not run alone, which has been the case lately at BBK's because of my lack of speed. We tacked on a little bit at the turn around to run to a drinking fountain at the park, but it made my miles nice and even returning back to the start at exactly 10, a 7 mile 'tempo'.

The best thing about this run was that the last mile felt okay, not as horrible as I would've imagined it. This gives me hope that I might be able to beat my 1 month post-pregnancy time at Des News this year. With the way I've been running I really wasn't holding out much hope, but with this good sign I may just try :) Not for a PR - ha, yeah right! But I might be able to hit 47-48 minutes...we shall see.

AP: 8:50 splits: 9:46, 8:53, 8:28, 9:17, 9:33, 9:21, 9:03, 8:33, 8:00, 7:30, 5:01 (last 33 feet -still love that fast short finish :)

I had to miss yoga this morning, because my little 4 year old (the one that wouldn't sleep earlier in the week?) came home last night with dad and had blood coming out of his ear. Scared the crap out of me, but I guess we now know why he wasn't sleeping well. NO mention of pain at all! Just a 10 hour fever Saturday then not sleeping well. Turns out he had an ear infection so bad they can't even tell if the ear drum is ruptured because of the mess in there :( It looks as if it is, but they have to wait a week for it to clear out to see (he had tubes at 1 yr old, so it may be the tube was just pushed out). Poor guy. I seriously can NOT believe that pain tolerance...not even a mention of a hurt ear! Oh, and the other ear is infected as well, not nearly as bad, just a normal one, but still. Dang kid!! I'm sorry.

Well, looks like a good day for you. I hope your little guy gets better. No fun having a sick kiddo.

Merri, I don't know. I've done earaches before and they HURT! I always think I'm a pansy about pain :)

Lily, that is the worst part. You wouldn't even know there was anything wrong with the kid. I'm just glad he will sleep now!

Great miles, I am proud of you and this workout. You felt good and motivated because you took a day off and did something a little more easy on the joints.

I need that clothing advice as well... I want to be there!

Oh my goodness! Nathan, right? I feel so bad for the little guy. No sign of pain? Wow! He just wants to have fun.

Poor little guy! I hope he feels better soon. Good job running and making your paces so nice.

It sounds like you had a nice run with the BBK's. I'll see you on Tuesday.

Too bad about your baby boy. That must have been horrible to see his ear bleeding. Great job with your pace. Maybe you were fighting a little infection yourself and just didn't know it.

Are you still planning on a long run on Sat? I would be interested in joining. Let me know what you're planning.

Sorry about your little guy being sick. Seems like you have had more than your fair share of trips to the doctor office this summer.

Do share Dean's advice, I don't have a clue about what to wear either.

That's awesome you're feeling better! I would "blame" the fast time on anything, that is all you! I can't believe he didn't complain at all...that is really bad and deserves at least some complaint!

From Kelli on Fri, Jul 22, 2011 at 11:45:14 from 71.219.99.3

YEAH for a good run! It was really nice when we got to turn around and head back! Wish I had known there was a drinking fountain, I would have gone a bit further (stopped at 4800 west).

Sorry about the ear, poor guy!

From RAD on Fri, Jul 22, 2011 at 15:51:03 from 76.27.16.189

Becca, sometimes a day off and some sleep can work wonders! :)

QP, thanks - it's been a while!

Nancy, I will be there! *yawn* :)

Terri, a little infection called "2 marathons injured withing 3 weeks of each other"!

Allie, what would the day be without getting up? :) I guess I should've said 'early'?

Scott, YES! and YES! Lehi JRP - same ol' 1500N (by the steel bridge?) at 5:30? *yawn*

Bye-wing, one too many trips to the doc!

Brooke, That is what I don't get - the no complaining. That really hurts! Thanks, I just can't blame it on myself this time :)

Kelli, Oh the sweetness of turning around on that course! Next time just run the loop around that park at the end, on the far side (by the playground) is a wonderful water fountain!! Worth the extra 1/2 mile on the end.
