Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Spent the day in the lodge at Brighton watching my little ones ski. Baby Fartlek and I just hung out and ate and stayed warm. Too bad it was like 10 flights of stairs to get between the car and our table. YIKES! I was SO tired of stairs. I can walk them easily, but dragging this heavy boot around and a baby on my hip makes for quite a workout. (yes, I know I'm supposed to stay off it as much as possible even in the boot, but I'm a mom! I can't help it. I tried, I really tried to limit the trips, but you gotta do what you gotta do).

Really stunk to not run and then not ski either. I need to go to the gym...

You are such an AWESOME mom...to lug the kiddos up to Brighton in your injured booted state!!! Bummer you couldn't ski.

Well, at least you got a *workout* but I do wish you'd elevate your foot and take care of yourself.

I was thinking about you all day. Is the swelling going down?

You are an awesome mom! I would have stayed home with the baby and told everyone to have a great time without me! I would hate to have to sit in the lodge with my boot on.

I remember thinking the same thing....how do you stay off of your foot when you are a mom??? Impossible! I hope you are feeling okay about your foot. I was a crying mess for about 3 weeks, then I got used to it!

Smooth, the swelling hasn't gone down much. Usually in the morning it is better, but this morning it was about the same as last night. Then again I did have to hobble around without my boot on a few times through the night to take care of kids.

Steam, I'm honestly not doing well. I wish I could do something...anything. I don't even want to go to the gym. I've set my alarm every morning this week but refuse to get up because I remember what a dork I look like at the gym with this dumb boot on and then just go back to sleep thinking that somehow more sleep will make it heal faster. I need to get over it, but I'm having a hard time.

Didn't they have an elevator??

From Carina on Thu, Dec 29, 2011 at 22:28:27 from 204.15.86.83

At least you got a good workout going up and down the stairs :) Seriously though, take it easy so you can run sooner!! You are such a trooper!!

From RAD on Fri, Dec 30, 2011 at 12:34:28 from 98.202.23.178

Kelli, they have an elevator in the first lodge (first 2 floors), but then in the lodge where you eat it is by choice to go to the 3rd floor. But that is the only place to see the bunny hill where the kids ski - so I go there to watch. Plus, the elevator is really slow!

Carina, I really did. My quads were a tad sore yesterday - well one of them :)

I'm so sorry you have to go through this Rachel! I'm glad you had a good sweaty workout yesterday. I know it's not the same, but I promise, it does make a difference! The more you can do that, despite the awkwardness and lack of motivation, the easier you'll be able to jump back into running when you're healed. :) Here's to a great New Year with a healed SF and a clean slate. :) :)
