Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Met a bunch of amazing ladies (all super fast for me) in Provo and ran up and back in the canyon. I was SO happy when I saw Luz there! I knew that she would take it easy and chat with me so I wouldn't be alone and play pity party run for 14 miles.

She said she only wanted to do 6ish and had brought her puppy Sarah with her. When we reached Nunn's park I noticed we were nearly at FIVE miles. Oh no! I'd made Luz run too far. Darn my chatty-ness! She said she was fine and we continued up past bridal veil falls and then a bit later she said for me to finish my miles and she would walk and then we'd run back together. Hey, I'll take it. I just didn't want to push her after she had been returning from injury/illness.

To keep my mind occupied I ran the triangles up the canyon (100's). One on, One off. I tried to push the pace as much as I could. With NO speed lately I was happy to see low 7s and once high 6's. I'll take it. I turned then did the same thing back until I ran into Luz again. My AP for those miles were low 8's. Felt good to move the legs again...with no pain.

We finished our run down the canyon, but by this time old Sarah was worn out...she was only going to do SIX and we were 10+ at that point. She was slow and we'd stop every little bit and wait for her. Poor girl. But, she stuck to it and with a stop in the river for a drink she made it to the end!

By the time Luz and I got back everyone but Rachelle and Michelle were gone. I had a wonderful run and wouldn't have traded it for the world, but I missed chatting with everyone else. Someday maybe I can run fast. We visited for a bit and then all headed home.

I was SO tired when I got home, but Lauren wanted to do a tri workout and my friend Kristy wanted to ride outside and with my new bike...well, hello! I slept for a 30 min power nap then woke up and got to it.

We rode bikes down to the rec center, Lauren got off and went inside to run and try out the spin bike with her new clip shoes (she is getting my old bike, we're just waiting for some parts to fix the reach for her, so she wanted to do the clips). She did spin on the bike for 45 min then ran 2 miles afterward and then waited for Kristy and me to come back.

Kristy and I rode down to 5400S on the MVC trail and then back. A few good hills, but a lot of flat and on the way home a LOT of wind! It was a great ride and I'm loving the new bike...Beans Ridley Moody (Ridley is the brand and Beans because it is the secret turbo boost power between your legs :-) Yes, I live with a lot of boys).

Lauren and I then hit the pool together and I swam 30+ min consistently which is about an Olympic distance swim in the pool for me...just under a mile. Felt good, but I can tell I've lost a lot of swimming strength over the last 8 months not doing it as much.

Then we just had the 3 mile uphill ride home. Good times with my daughter and a great full day of workout. Finally feeling back in the saddle and I felt like I deserved my rest day Sunday.

It was fun to see you!! Sorry I missed you at the end. I would have stayed to chat, but my friend Tara I came down with had to go into work so we had to head home. I can't believe how much working out you do in a day!!
