Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Another day on the TM, but I did get to bed relatively early...it was before 11:30, which lately is early for me. Eight full hours of sleep is always nice! Legs still hung over from the half. I've got to find a way to shake this soreness out of them. I've got a full to run in 9 days...hopefully.

I toyed with the idea of doing a Mexican Mtn Goat workout today, but with my heavy legs I chickened out. I also decided to do two 4 mile workouts instead of one 7, extra mile and workout between - can't complain.

mile 1 @ 8:27, mile 2 - increase incline, mile 3 increase speed 8:20 and incline then last 1/2 mile pushed up speed and incline again (top out 8:13 and 1.5%), mile 4 downhill -.5% and speed to 7:30mm, then increase every 1/10th the last .4 to finish at 7:03.  TT: 33:14 AP: 8:18

Core/hip/stability circuit, comprised mostly of PT stuff and finishing off with 60/60/60 planks. Completed 3X - then back to the TM. It's kind of nice that the weather is bad and has driven Kelli inside, I now have company and get to sleep in :)

mile 1 @ .5% incline and 8:20, mile 2 .5% and 8:13, mile 3- 1% and 8:13 then at 3.5 increase to 1.5 and 8:06, man that is rough! 4th mile -.5% and 7:30mm, then increase speed to the finish as before. TT: 32:45, AP: 8:11

2 walking laps to cool down and then some stretching to finish it all off. Feel good afterward and I hope my legs recover soon, I liked having fresh legs, not tired heavy legs!

NICE RUNS with good core/strength workouts in between. GOOD JOB on the sleep department too.

What marathon are you running in 9 days? Is it just for fun as you are not tapering?

From RAD on Thu, Nov 03, 2011 at 16:34:14 from 98.202.23.178

Smooth, thanks - still need more sleep though. Can't wait until Sunday's fall back! Marathon #10!!!

HOW in the heck do you remember all of that? I can hardly remember my name when I'm on the TM :)

Nice running. What marathon are you doing?

From allie on Thu, Nov 03, 2011 at 21:01:28 from 24.10.191.18

great job on the run and circuit workout. sorry about the hungover legs -- hopefully it goes away soon.

I'm so excited for your Richmond Marathon. It really is the friendliest marathon like they advertise. Don't forget to chow down on the junk food at the junk food stop and unless it sounds totally gross, the coke actually gives you a little buzz - in a good way. The "hill" at mile 16 (if my memory serves me correctly) nearly killed me, but that was when I was living and training in VA. When I moved to Utah hills turned into mountains. You are going to rock this marathon! I'm so jealous.

Nice workouts, Rachel. I think if I did as much spinning and running as you, my legs would feel hungover, too.

From Rachelle on Fri, Nov 04, 2011 at 11:17:13 from 199.190.170.30

Wow I am tired just from reading your workout. Great job Rachel!

Are you running mesquite marathon?

From Bec on Fri, Nov 04, 2011 at 11:25:03 from 68.206.133.141

Hopefully? You better be running the marathon! You need to get away and ENJOY some good running.

This workout you posted... hmmmm? I don't question it, I question if I want to read about it. You will have to let me know about the Mex. Mtn. Goat workout. There are NO hills here. That could be good for some, but sometimes I miss a good hill workout.

I can't believe it's almost here!!

Keep the grapefruit fresh & on the tree for a few more weeks!!

From RAD on Fri, Nov 04, 2011 at 13:29:45 from 98.202.23.178

Toby, I write my blog in my head while I'm on the TM :) Only thing I can think about while I'm running!

Nancy, I'm doing Richmond

Allie, a little coffee and they are feeling better today :)

Melody, coke? junk food? hills? I think I will really like this marathon!! I am excited - now I just have to get there. Fingers crossed that I don't end up with a family conflict which would keep me from going.

Dale, I'm hoping it's still the Halloween half. That race seriously killed my legs.

Rachelle, I think you do about 2X that everyday! You SF ladies are the workout queens! No Mesquite for me - thank goodness!! I've heard that thing is a beast. I'm doing Richmond.

Becca, oh I want to be there SO bad! I need my vacation :) Mexican Mtn goat is THE best TM hill workout you will ever do.

QP, talked to the queen about the grapefruit today - still ripe, fingers crossed. Just one more week, I think we can do it! Oh, don't forget to carb load :)

From The Quiet Pirate on Fri, Nov 04, 2011 at 13:49:09 from 152.26.59.252

Not forgetting carbs at all. They're always on my mind!!
