After a rough last weekend as far as running goes for me, I'm back and little more rested and hopefully ready to go this week. I'm still debating whether or not to race AF on Saturday. If I'm doing it, I think I should just push it all out and race...but that requires tapering, which I'm not sure I want to do. But, if I don't race I'll just pace 1:45 with Kelli. Poo...I don't know. Met at infinite cycle for Queen of the Hill ride. Because of that lady that died due to crud in the road on Redwood last week everyone is really nervous about doing Camp Williams, so we rode up 12600S to Rose Canyon/Yellow Fork, then at the bottom of the canyon (my house) we did another climb up the Cove. Finally, we got the long nice downhill back to the shop. I really try to pedal hard and not just coast on the downhill. I can't stand being a 'cheater' :) 22.5 total miles - 15.5 mph, not too fast, but 1400ft of climbing will do that to you. Drove home and changed shoes then took my new tri jersey out for a little run. I've gotten used to running in the shorts, but needed to see how the jersey would do on a run. I figured it would be a slogging run like the past few runs, but at least the pace was decent. I was especially surprised when my first mile came in at 8:43 - that uphill first mile is usually closer to a 10! Then, it just got better from there. Besides the super lucky stop at the skate park to pee (a city worker was there and unlocked the bathrooms for me!), I had a rather uneventful run. AP: 8:01 splits: 8:43, 7:46, 7:41, 7:49, 8:10, 8:31, 7:23 - I'm kind of proud of the pace on this run especially because I didn't feel like I was pushing it, just out for a normal ol' run. with nearly 600ft of climbing it was no easy run either. The first mile was definitely the biggest with 167ft of climb. Helps me feel like I'm going to be okay at Spudman.
