Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

6:30 spin class - not so easy to get up after letting ALL the kids have a sleepover in my room, I guess they think when dad is gone mom is a push-over :) It's been 9 days...only 5 left! I can't wait to not be a single parent again!!! Anyway, my kids are horribly noisy sleepers! One talks in her sleep, one snores the other kept kicking the wall every time he'd turn around and then the baby would cry like every 60 min - just once in his sleep. Just enough to keep me up :)

Class was good - sweat factor was much more than usual! GREAT endurance/interval class.

Ran home, got the boys ready for swim lessons then took them back to the rec center. Did my 60/60/60 planks, 20 push-ups and 2 min wall sits during their lessons. A whole hour to burn...so I got in 6 sets. However, my 5th set I did 90/60/60 on the planks and 3 min wall sit. The 6th set I did 90/90/90 planks (not as bad as I had imagined, but then I can't do them on my toes...so maybe it is just that much easier?) 25 push ups and 3 min wall sit.

Tomorrow I go to the doc for follow up x-rays - fingers crossed that things are going well.

What a workout! I'm sending lots of positive energy to you for the appointment tomorrow. You run fast, so you proabably heal fast too :-)

Good luck at the appointment tomorrow. You are amazing for taking on the single parent role and still getting any type of workout in. Way to go!

I can't wait to hear what the doc says! I NEVER sleep with my kids for those very reasons - I don't get any sleep!!!! Nice workout!

Fingers are crossed! I hope all is well tomorrow!! I just love it when all of my kids are sleeping with me when my hub is out of town. I don't think I sleep at all during those night. They are a living nightmare! ha! I hope you get some sleep tonight.

Can't wait to hear your good news tomorrow!

From Nancy on Mon, Jan 09, 2012 at 20:43:44 from 76.23.21.118

Did you really run home? It sounds like you got a good workout. It is always fun to sleep with kids in your room.

From JulieC on Mon, Jan 09, 2012 at 20:59:26 from 168.103.185.108

okay Rachel I read from your report above the words "I ran home..." and thought oh "yay she is miraculously healed" but then I saw the zero mileage written above then of course read the entire entry. I just happen to pick out the word "ran" first. Hope the best for you tomorrow!! :D

You are a nicer mom than I am, I say "no" to sleeping in my bedroom!! Nice workout today, wishing you luck tomorrow for sure!!

QP, it drives me nuts that there is nothing I can do but rest to speed recovery - NUTS!

Rachelle, I'm just grateful for nice neighbors and an 11 year old daughter!

Toby, I didn't think it would be too bad and they all thought it would be SO fun! It was fun, just not a lot of sleep :)

Amy, all to bed early and in their OWN beds tonight!

Terri, YES - GOOD news!!

Nancy, sorry - no. I 'ran' home...like quickly in the car :) sorry, bad choice of words.

Julie, I really need to watch how I post things. I couldn't run right now if I tried. Walking without the boot is still barely maneuverable. Too much pain, which is making my stomach churn about tomorrow!!!

Carina, usually that is my answer, but I guess I was just in a good mood - CRAZY mood more like it!

Keeping my fingers and toes crossed that you have good X-ray and Dr. visit giving you permission to do the SG 5K.

GREAT spin and workouts all these days being single-parent! You are amazing!!! :) Miss you so much!

Nice workout today! Let us know how it goes tomorrow! I hope the next 5 days go really fast for you... That would be hard.
