Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Early morning trip to the airport :( just lost my running buddy. She thinks she has to go home to her family and job or something crazy like that!

Came home and slept and since I had no where to be until 3PM I asked Kelli if I could tag along with her and Scott. Luckily they didn't want to leave until 10AM to let it warm up a bit. YAY! I got some sleep and felt great. Chilly to start, but I was actually pretty comfortable once we got going. I met them about 2 miles from their house and just a mile down from mine. I thought I was being clever cutting out the uphill at the start - I would regret this!

We ran out to the lake around and back. Thanks to Kelli I now know where the hidden public bathroom and water fountain are - YES! She knows all the good stops. Scott was the best body guard on the run and always telling us when to cross, when big trucks were coming (when we had to run on the R side of the road) and then pulling me up the hills. I miss running with those guys. Great company and good miles!

When we got back to the point we met and I went home I now had another .70 climb UPHILL and they got to turn and go 1.8 downhill home. Shoot. Should've driven to their house and taken the 2 extra miles. I hate having to always finish uphill to my house.

Had a great run and the ankle is holding up well. Seriously, a couple aleve and some good sleep cure all. Thanks Kelli and Scott for letting me tag along!! Another perfect run.

AP: 8:41 splits: 8:38, 8:38, 8:33, 8:31, 8:27, 8:43, 8:50, 8:39, 8:50, 8:48, 8:57, 8:30, 8:43, 8:50, 7:13 (last .10) I really need to run with Kelli more. Seriously. NO paces over 9mm - even on my hill of despair home without her I kept it at 8:50. I like these splits :)

OH, seriously hilarious! Good thing you left us for your sprint home as we crept into the 11's and almost hit the 12's on our 2 mile downhill run home. That strong guy that pulled you up the hills immediately said, "I am in so much pain" as soon as you left and he completely fell apart. Apparently your presence was keeping him together!

Thanks for joining us, you are always welcome as long as you do not have a schedule, you know we never stick to one!!!! (Unless, of course, we have games to get to and basketball starts next week! I am praying for night games!)

uggh, I've got basketball starting too. I forgot about that. Last year the games were 1-3, I'm hoping it is the same this year!! That is crazy Scott fell apart like that - I guess he does have his pride :) He said he couldn't even straighten his arm when we were at the stop. That man is one tough guy! I'd have probably stayed home and slept if I was in that much pain :)

Your mileage looks great!!! Nice job running so strong/healthy/well! :) :) :)

I thought Friday was going to be your long run. Nice miles, and a tweaked ankle.

From RAD on Sat, Nov 26, 2011 at 22:06:10 from 98.202.23.178

Teena, I honestly didn't realize my mileage was almost to 48 this week. I'm trying to keep it closer to 40 for the off season. But, these nice late morning long runs (3 'Saturdays' in a row) are hard to pass up!

Chad, it was going to be. Blame Kelli, it's all her fault! :)

Sounded like a fun run! I love running later...I am no morning person! I don't know how you all run so many miles and aren't injured! It must be my old age :( I wish I lived closer. Running yesterday was so much fun and 10 miles went by so fast!

From Kelli on Sat, Nov 26, 2011 at 22:14:53 from 71.219.83.156

EVERYTHING is always my fault!

From RAD on Sat, Nov 26, 2011 at 22:26:31 from 98.202.23.178

Steam, that is the only thing about winter I like! you can sleep in and run later and it is actually NICE! We will have to come out to your corner of the world sometime...in the late morning :)

Kelli, when you said you were doing 16 I knew it would be longer, but I'd rather do extra with company than 10 alone! So, it was your fault for offering to let me tag along :) My choice to run lots of extra miles. Besides, I had such a good time it only felt like 10! Until that last uphill :)

From Steam8 on Sat, Nov 26, 2011 at 22:28:05 from 166.70.55.77

Definitely! Next time I will provide the hot chocolate and donuts!

From Nancy on Sat, Nov 26, 2011 at 23:46:15 from 76.23.21.118

It sounds like you had a nice run with Scott and Kelli. I bet you really enjoyed having your sister here.

From Smooth on Sun, Nov 27, 2011 at 01:21:18 from 174.27.205.151

HEY!!! We ran the same mileage today. But my pace was much much slower and running solo was not fun...and I was SO HUNGRY for donuts! :)

Steamer ~ Can I come to your donuts party too?

You had some really great runs this week, it was enjoyable reading your entries. Congratulations to you and your family.

From RAD on Sun, Nov 27, 2011 at 13:57:53 from 98.202.23.178

steam, I'm SO in!!!

Nancy, it was nice having her here. It is hard to have them both so far away.

Smooth, you should've come and run with us! We waited until later too. You really do need to come out and run the lake with us sometime. We can stop at Kneaders on the way back to Kelli's house :)

Flat, it was a great week! I think I'm going to lose motivation next week.
