Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

10 early miles on the frozen tundra we call the roads. YIKES! I swear I almost died a couple times. I was nervous about running on the ice and snow this morning, but with chunks of snow frozen in the ice on the road it was doable. Chad joined us (George, Todd and I) after about 1.5 miles and watched the garmin to help me pace at 8:50 so I could convince my brain I'll be fine at Riverton. With sore, tired legs and in the ice I exceeded that (taking off the first super slow mile), so I now know I can hit it and feel comfortable at the race. Thanks Chad!

AP: 8:50 splits: 10:01, 9:16 (getting used to the ice skating), 8:44, 8:42, 9:10 (the hill), 8:39, 8:27, 8:18, 8:32, 8:24.

Got home and shivered for about 30 minutes. Nice after burn, right?

Spin class - gotta love Allison's class. Had a diaper pass around. Allison (teacher) needed one, so I gave her mine, but then 5 min later guess who was called to come change their baby? HA! Darn Murphy! So, another lady in class gave one to me. Awesome mothers, we're always supporting each other when we need it.

Took baby Fartlek to his swim class and got a good arm workout there! Fun times :)

Okay, so I really want to come to this swim class sometime. There's a lazy river?

I'm glad you didn't die this morning.

From Chad Robinson on Tue, Mar 20, 2012 at 14:26:12 from 50.73.39.89

You did great today, especially considering all the circumstances. I think George was pleased. We can definately make this a regular thing if you would like.

From RAD on Tue, Mar 20, 2012 at 15:06:47 from 98.202.23.178

Catherine, it is only Tuesdays at 10AM. It is at the JL Sorenson rec center waaay out here in Herriman. But, if you come you would LOVE it! Don't count on a hard workout for yourself (maybe if you were a sedentary mom, but I know you!), but the babies love it and they get 15ish min of baby swim time too! I think it is the only thing that keeps Adam from getting kicked out of the nursery now. I tell him if he is nice I'll take him to swim class.

Chad, George runs every tu/th, but only does the 10 mile loop one of those days. I wouldn't mind making it a regular thing! Next week I'll have to see how my legs recover from the Buffalo run before I commit. I want them to be somewhat fresh for pacing Riverton since for some reason I'm so darn stinkin' nervous about it!

From Chad Robinson on Tue, Mar 20, 2012 at 15:20:51 from 50.73.39.89

Just let me know. Morning group runs help get me out the door. And I love helping out. You will do great at Riverton (you really need not worry). I think it will be a comfortably hard run for you which I think that those that you are pacing will appreciate.

From Rachelle on Tue, Mar 20, 2012 at 15:33:24 from 159.212.71.25

Fun, fun, it is totally worth braving the cold to have some company.

I am pacing 1:50 and wish I were pacing 1:55 with you. We would have so much fun together!

From allie on Tue, Mar 20, 2012 at 15:59:49 from 161.38.218.168

nice job braving the cold and icy conditions this morning. i read the sentence "had a diaper pass around" like 10 times trying to figure out what that meant. i guess i just should have kept reading to figure it out, but i was hung up on it. many things went through my head on what this could possibly mean during a spin class.

From RAD on Tue, Mar 20, 2012 at 17:13:52 from 98.202.23.178

Chad, I will let you know for sure! Hopefully we won't have any more ice skating mornings to deal with.

Rachelle, crapy! I wish you were doing 1:55 too, that would be fun. 6 months ago I would've paced 1:50 no problem, even on this course. But, when people are relying on you and your abilities I guess I'm just getting freaked out. So, if you were pacing with me I'd know I'd be okay :)

Allie, ha ha ha. That gave me a good laugh! I think you are on some special magic garden plants :) you should know better than to try and figure things out on my blog before reading on!

Awesome workouts!!!! (I do not miss changing diapers one bit!!!)

From Nancy on Tue, Mar 20, 2012 at 18:16:40 from 76.23.21.118

Glad you got to run outside in the cold and snow. It was foggy when I ran which made it even more fun.

From Toby on Tue, Mar 20, 2012 at 19:02:30 from 199.101.229.254

So glad to hear Fartlek is behaving! Having cooperative children while running is fantastic!

From Smooth on Tue, Mar 20, 2012 at 19:31:52 from 174.27.212.157

WOW!!! WAY to brave the cold and icy road!!! And such a speedy 10 miler to boot! :)

You will do FANTASTIC pacing the 1:55. I'm still debating what to do about Riverton Half. I really want to run it but don't want to pay $50. Hmmm!

I was wondering about the "Had a diaper pass around" during spin class. You gave Allison, the teacher, yours and then you needed it yourself and good thing another lady gave you hers! If I didn't know how young you are or about Baby Fartlek, I'd thought the spin class was full of old ladies! :)

Can't wait to see you on Sat. what time are we supposed to be there? Are you going to pick up your packet on race morning?

From Steam8 on Tue, Mar 20, 2012 at 19:47:42 from 166.70.55.77

You always make me laugh! What a workout today! You are always pumping out the miles and then do a spin class on top of it! I don't know how you do it. You have passed me up already!

From Brent on Tue, Mar 20, 2012 at 21:19:11 from 66.7.127.67

Devine, your a rock star, quick recovery from the race, shows your good condition.

Teena, I'm hoping to get rid of diapers in this house once and for all this year! Baby turns 2 and I only change diapers for two years :)

Nancy, you must've been down by the river. We run over Temple Hill (oquirrh mtn temple), so I always think of you and Leslie and wonder if I'll see you!

Toby, I only leave him for one hour 2X a week now. I used to leave him 2 hrs a day 5 days a week. So, I'm not pushing my luck :)

Smooth, yeah $50 is too much. I'd just come and run it and bring your own water so you don't feel guilty at aid stations. I won't tell anyone you're a bandit :) Yeah, I guess I should've clarified that the diapers were for 1 year old kids - NOT the adults. hehehe. As far as Saturday goes, since there is an option to pick up that morning that is what I'm going to do. It is too far to go to Layton for a pick up if I don't have to! I am going to plan on getting there around 7:15ish to give myself plenty of time to drive around and figure out where I'm supposed to be and maybe barf out my nerves!!! What time are you going up?

Amy, my life is always full of entertainment! :) If I could run as fast as you can I probably wouldn't need to do any more. I'm just trying to live up to your BQ standard!

Brent, not sure about the recovery - legs are still stiff, going downstairs isn't pretty. But, they did loosen up nicely during the run so I guess I should be grateful.

From Bec on Wed, Mar 21, 2012 at 07:28:01 from 68.206.133.141

Ten miles with the men?? What did George have to say about the pace today? I bet he was more pleased. He won't know what hit him when the pace is 7:30 mm next week!

I knew exactly what you meant by the diaper pass around. Nothing surprises me with you anymore.

When is the half where you pace all of those lucky people? I'm jealous a little.

From RAD on Wed, Mar 21, 2012 at 12:04:36 from 98.202.23.178

Becca, when Chad said "last 1.5 was 8:18 pace" George just about fell over - "That is the fastest I've ever run!" But, he invited us back for Thursday :) I'm going skiing with the fam and trying to taper a little for the Buffalo run, so I don't want to do a ton of miles. I was only planning 4 or 5. We'll see. The half is 3/31 - Riverton! I love pacing, it is just nerve wracking.
